“The paths we take make us who we are” (website). What paths have you taken? How have your paths affected you? I am the collection of many different people and experiences who have shaped my path. I am sassy, fiery, caring and appreciative. How did I become a person with these characteristics? My dad, mom, extended family, and my experiences have made me the person I am today. One of the experiences which has influenced me extensively has been my trips to Jamaica. The past four years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with a church in Jamaica. We work in a small community named Santa Cruz. The people there are so thankful for all that they have even though they do not have very much. Sister Fay has to bring water to her house in bottles and bathes out of a bucket. Yet, every time you ask her how she is, she answers with, “I am blessed.” Some of the church members have showers and kitchens outside. There is a little girl there who we call KK. She is about six years old. She has become my little one when we are down there. She is very special to me because I am so sad for her path. In Jamaica going to school requires taxi money, breakfast and lunch money, uniforms and school supplies. KK’s mom and her boyfriend will not work which means that they do not have the money to send her to school. It makes me think about how blessed I am to be able to come to PCA and that I have parents that will do anything for me. Another one of the church
