The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a book written by Stephen Chbosky wrote a book that many people can relate to when it comes to the sayings of the characters. Sam said, “I’m going to do what I want to do. I’m going to be who I really am. And I’m going to figure out what that is.” Later in the book, the main character Charlie says a quote that has so much meaning when it comes to identity and figuring out who we really are. Charlies says, “I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we’ll never know most of them. But even if we don’t have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them.” Our lives our made up of moments that make us who we are. Our identities stem from the experiences we go through. Our parents influence who we are, school influences us, and so do many other things we come into contact within our lives. Our identities tell us who we are and how we can define ourselves to both our own minds and to those around us. People will ask me all the time about who am I.
