The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations has both indirect and direct competitors that serve as both an advantage and disadvantage when gaining the attention of their target audience. A direct competitor is any company that is built around the same principles as The Plank Center and provides similar resources and services. The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations was established at The University of Alabama in 2015 and was established at to provides resources for practitioners, educators and students striving to further their professional development in the public relations field (http://plankcenter.ua.edu/about/). Similar to The Plank Center is The Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication, in which both concentrate on all individuals involved in the communications field; both professionals and aspiring professionals. The Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication was created in 2004 at Penn State College of Communications. The Page Center is a research center used to foster a modern understanding and application of the Page Principles by supporting innovative research, educational, or public service project in a wide variety of academic disciplines and professional fields (http://comm.psu.edu/page-center/about/about-the-center).
