Introduction China has become the nation that established the scales for cheaper manufacturing and labouring cost across the world in last few decades (You & Xu, 2010, p. 4469). It results in attraction of companies towards the China to get the job done at lower rates as compared to other nations. In 1961, Canada started the trade and business partnerships under the governance of Mr. John Diefenbaker, 13th Prime Minister of Canada, by establishing the political relationships with each other. In last twenty years, China has grown into a dominant supplier of manufactured exports around the globe. Although, it increases the interest of rural Chinese manufacturers to get settle in urban areas. It results in an escalation in demand for electricity that is met via burning coal and use of other fossil fuels because it is the cheapest way to meet the burgeoning need of electricity at the lowest price. Hence, it increases the air pollution by the emission of green gases like Carbon dioxide (CO2) in China (You & Xu, 2010, p. 4471). The environment has to face the tragic significant of increased economy of China. The Ministry of Environment Protection of China has proclaimed that the industrial productions, coal burning and the dust from construction sites causes the 80-90% of the pollution in China (You & Xu, 2010, p. 4473). This data is collected from the sources analyzed from the nine different cities of China. The key element of air pollution is the excess coal consumption in Shijiazhuang and Nanjing. In winter, eastern parts of China are affected by a hazardous haze. This dust-haze is a cumulative outcome of the natural factors and economic factors. The coal-fired power plants, factories, and vehicles cause the dust-haze. The crude from oil giants is also the cause of decreased quality of air and water. The rapid development of China with
As the exploration of the industrial development and increased speed of the urban sprawl in Beijing, many severe environmental issues attribute mainly to the anthropocentric activities have been come out of the scene. One of them is the air pollution. Air pollution has been regarded as the most severe environment issue in China since it has already threatened to physical health, especially for the respiratory tract and lung. “In January 2013, Beijing experienced historical heavy air pollution. In this particular month, very few days were observed with blue sky.” (Lijian Han et.al., 2015) According to the analysis of the driving factors, “the population grew fast, and energy consumption and the number of vehicles increased rapidly” (Ju Zhang et.al., 2010), these factors add together can make the air quality worse than any one of them separately can. Firstly, it has been an undoubted truth that more and more people originally lived in rural has been moved to core urban of Beijing since there are more opportunities in there. Therefore, the huge explosion of urban population with more energy release and more CO2 exhalation is seen as an inevitably primary factor causing the bad air quality. What’s more, as the population
Air pollution by definition, is the presence in or introduction into the air of a substance which has harmful or poisonous effects. Beijing is a major Chinese city that endures air pollution significantly. A study on the global burden of disease found that outdoor air pollution contributed to 1.2 million premature deaths in China each year (Chemical & Engineering News,2017). As China is the world's second largest economy behind the United States, it is most definitely under the influence of globalization. Globalization causes industrialization, a process that will inevitably create pollution.70% of air pollution in China is from the tailpipes of automobiles (Conserve Energy Future, 2017). Thus, the introduction of advanced transportation brought by globalization has adversely affected China's atmosphere.
In the past decade, the severe air pollution problem in fast developing countries, particularly in China, has caused highly social and scientific attention. In 2014, 92 % of the world population are exposed over to the WHO Air Quality Guidelines (AQG) PM2.5 concentration level of 10 μg/m3 (World Health Organization, 2016). Ambient particulate matter (PM) pollution ranked as the third leading risk factor in India and Nepal, and ranked as the fifth in China (GBD 2015 Risk Factors Collaborators, 2016). In 2012, about 3 million deaths globally were attributed solely to ambient air pollution, and around 87% of it occurred in low- and middle-income countries (World Health Organization, 2016).
Globally, many countries are increasingly feeling the effects of environmental degradation. This has been occasioned by the increasingly evident effects of poor environmental conservation policy. There are currently taking the brunt of environmental degradation that has been occasioned by rapid the industrialization that has occurred both within and out of the country. “Air pollution has been at fault for a significant portion of the country’s environmental problems. Studies have identified the country’s economic boom as major contributor to this (Jitendra and Tanvi, 42)”. In East Asia, yellow dust it calls “Asian dust” is the biggest issue, which is mostly influenced by China’s industrialization and coal burning electrical generating plants. The main issue concerning South Korea and Japan is the air pollution caused by China's rapid economic growth crossing the boundaries into these two countries, it is blown from China to Korea and Japan causing hazardous air pollution. There causes many problems, it occurs respiratory problems, an increase in incidence of acid rain, highway accidents, and forcing many residents to stay home. Also, dust will enter a human’s mouth and organ which will cause respiratory problems through inhalation. “Air pollutants are gaseous or particulate matter which that have an impact on human health and natural ecosystems” (Lee, Adeel, 134).
Since the fall of communism in Russia and the end of the Cold War, China started to rise as a significant power and to this day holds the title as the world’s fastest growing economy. With that advancement, China has become an influential global player in international politics and the economy; moreover, causing many countries, developed and developing, to raise a serious level of concern and interest to the rapid development of China. In particular, Canada is now back to establishing to be on better terms with China, after Harper’s playing hard to get approach, we must work even harder in becoming a part of China’s inner circle of trade partners. Moreover, Mr. Harper at first tried an activist approach, criticizing and accusing China of poor
Moreover, carbon and petroleum, compounds which produce large amounts of carbon emissions when burned, have accounted for more than half of the energy produced in 2013, while cleaner energy sources, such as solar and wind power, were reported as less than 10% of the produced energy (Adams). Developing countries, like China and India, play a huge role in the production. China alone contributed 27% of 2011’s total carbon emissions (Union). The process of modernization and the air pollution that this causes has led to uncontrollable environmental damage, in addition to a huge influx of health defects and pollution-related deaths.
Canada is working with China to have a bilateral trade agreement. So, as you can see, Canada is diversifying the trade strategies across the world. China has an abundance in resources from health, food, and technology. Its economy is dominated by state-owned establishments, basically companies
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and China’s Premier discussed economic ties between the two countries, they aim to double trade between each other by 2025. Trudeau announced that Canada had secured access for its canola to the Chinese market through 2020. Canada has aimed at an eventual free trade agreement with China, to benefit both economies.
Beijing, China has a coal mining history of nearly 800 and some odd years. This has been a major air pollutant and the main reason for it is because its economy has grown substantially in the last 30 years. Worldwide, there are twenty cities with the highest, worst air pollution, sixteen of those cities are within China alone. The main causes of Beijing’s air pollution can be pointed to several factors. Large economical growth, an increase in vehicles on the roads, growth in population, and manufacturing. China has also experienced major economic growth with a large rise in Gross Domestic Product. This increase can be connected with pollution. Vehicles are just one contributor to pollution which we will discuss later in this paper.
Emissions are gases and particles that are released into the atmosphere. This is caused by burning fuels and other processes. Even though humans contribute most air emissions, animals can also contribute a portion of carbon dioxide and methane into the air through digestive processes. The primary sources of emissions in the United States, which are released by human beings and natural sources, are carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane gas, hexafluoride, and halocarbons. Halocarbons and hex fluoride come as a direct result of man-made inventions (What are Emissions? n.d.). China accounts for about 7% of all world greenhouse gas emissions and is the fourth largest country source behind the Soviet Union, Brazil, and the United States. About three-fourths of China’s emissions are from the production and conversion of coal. They are willing to cooperate in reducing the use of coal because it is the major source of acid rain and air
The China-Canada relationship is the solution to every problem Canada faces in the long term and as a result, greatly improves Canada’s economy as a whole. By trading with China we are able to increase the exports of both services and manufacture goods via raw resources and healthcare and decrease our reliance, as a country, on the United States. China is also newly industrialized country which has shown enormous economic growth. In fact, China now accounts for about six percent of Canada’s world emerging as Canada’s second largest trading partner. China’s role in Canada’s economic market will clearly enhance the lives of all Canadians, through the sheer amount of trades they bring in and for the future of Canada’s trade; with China at Canada’s side, we will be able to set a stable economic foundation for all, making this extremely important for all Canadians.
Air pollution is considered one of China’s main environmental threat. Some experts suggest it is due to the amount of manufacturing companies and vehicles. While others say it is the electrical plants which spew
Beijing is one place that has a huge problem. Their amount of pollution that they are releasing into the air is going to eventually become very toxic and no one is going to be able to survive. They are also one of the worst air quality countries in the world. There was a red alert that happened not too long ago and it finally hit a trigger that something needed to be done. “Now, in a swift policy shift, Beijing plans to issue a red alert on higher thresholds, despite government pledges to better address the toxic air” (Guo). Much of this issue is coming from the enormous amount of coal that is burned. After the alert was sent out, they had to close schools and also put strict limits on the use of cars. It would take years to even make half
Through urbanization, the most common view is the establishment of factories. Most of these factories are located in heavy industrial areas of the cities. It is easy to hypotheses that air quality has become worse in Shanghai since it started urbanization in the 1980s. However, there is not a proportional
The amount of factories and industries has grown immensely through the previous years which has resulted in an expansion in the consumption of petroleum products. Innovation has begun to increase and has promoted the expansion of the production of cars. As stated by the Air Quality Research Center, “Air pollution is one of the most dangerous environmental problems, causing many adverse health effects and responsible for 50,000 deaths in the U.S. each year” (Air Pollution and Health – Air Quality Research Center.). The smog and
