One man saw the fire and tried to get someone to use the fire box to get the fire department to send a fire truck. Sadly he had no such luck in notifying them. Fire boxes were boxes located on the street corner for people to use to alert the closest fire department, because telephones were not commonly available at that time. The other man just insisted that a fire truck had probably already been called and was on its way. The fire was so destructive because there were many mistakes and dangerous
Three stories of a ten-floor building a the corner of Greens Street and Washington Place were burned yesterday, and while the fire was going on 141 young men and women at least 125 of them mere girls were burned to death or killed by jumping to the pavement below. Pennsylvania. Washington’s men murdered the gathering in what came to be recognized as The Battle of Jumonville Glen. France and England initially pursued the French and Indian War mainly for power of the area known as the Ohio River Valley. The Ohio River Valley was a property filled with fur-bearing animals and profuse resources. Both English and French colonists wanted to settle it to make fortunes in the fur trade. The Ohio River formed by the union of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers at the time Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ran through the valley. As French settlers arrived upon the area from Canada, and English settlers came from Virginia, territory clashes were unavoidable. Neither side was willing to negotiation, as each assumed they
Curtis’s young face may fool you, but the fourteen year old is tough. The young teen sprinted into the church, which was in flames to save the young kids. Ponyboy states “ pieces of the old roof were crashing down to close for comfort...I heard the timber and flames….(pg ) . “ Clearly, Curtis was longing for a fresh breath of air, clean and full of good oxygen. But, his toughness showed us all, and he saved the kids with his pals Johnny Cade, and Dallas Winston. You may think this kid has been through a

I read David Cowan and John Kuenster’s To Sleep with the Angels: The Story of a Fire written in 1998, published by Ivan R. Dee in Chicago. To Sleep with the Angels is a story told by two veteran journalists who recall the heart-wrenching story of the fire and its aftermath. The story is about a fire that broke out one afternoon, and in only less than an hour, many lives had been lost, and an entire school building that housed 24 classes had come down (Cowan and Kuenster 10). This book report discusses the fire talked about by the authors and advancements that have improved the school building rules and regulations to prevent similar incidents.

Every human in this world is promised to something from love to a better country.
November 18, 1978, altered America, but the process leading up to that day began much earlier by a mind only described as perverse. The Peoples Temple of the Disciples of Christ, Peoples Temple as it is commonly referred, led by James Warren Jones blazed its own way into the history books with what is still one of the most disastrous endings of a movement. Jim Jones is known for founding the most infamous cult in American history; his reputation revolves around the manipulation of a population, professing skewed values, controlling that population, and eventually destroying what he created in a final act of domination.

Architectural buildings around the world make up one factor of the beauty and culture of each country. The Winter Palace is an incredibly beautiful architectural building in St. Petersburg, Russia. The Winter Palace consists of great importance politically, culturally, and symbolically in the city’s third century. In 1708, the Winter Palace was first built as a wooden house with a Dutch style to be the Imperial residence of Peter the Great and his family. In 1711, the wood was replaced by a stone building. However, in 1731 Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli was assigned to reconstruct the palace into a much larger and newer design. The third reconstruction of the palace was completed in the year of 1735. Nevertheless, it only lasted 17 years before Rastrelli was asked again to expand the building even more. Two years later, he decided to completely rebuild the Winter Palace after the confirmation of the empress. (saint-petersburg.com) Ratrelli’s designs for the exterior were in a Baroque style, which have remained the same till this day. (about-eastern-europe.com)
Another circumstance leading to massacre was the warring factions of the Guise and the Huguenot leaders. Under the reign of Henry II rival noble factions were already buoying for power and control. This was enlarged under the weak rule of Francis II and Charles IX. The Guise controlled Paris; they were also backed by Rome and Spain. It was the Guise who initiated the religious wars with the Massacre at Vassy in 1562. After the murder of the duke of Guise in 1563 the religious wars saw retaliation lead to more retaliation, until both Catholics and Huguenots had ample reasons to continue the fighting as a blood feud. Catherine had ample reason to distrust both the powerful Guise and Huguenot factions, especially after Condè and Coligny attempted
