The dim lighting reveals the hopeless and melancholic feelings of Penelope. Similarly, numerous shadows and dark shading appear in the scene where Odysseus swims in the ocean (Hinds 70-71). The shadows and shading display the emotions of trepidation and apprehension felt by Odysseus as he paddles through the deep, churning and stygian water. Both examples convey how contrast delineates emotions. Second, Hinds wields perspective to project the emotions. Viewpoint and proportions define perspective in several scenes. High and small, Mount Olympus stands (Hinds 2). The perspective conveys the disunion the characters in the story feel with the gods. Furthermore, the viewpoint of the small and elevated Mount Olympus exemplifies the sacredness of the immortals. Likewise, Penelope and Ogygia appear on the same page, but separated into two different panels (Hinds 46). This disconnection demonstrates the emotion of severance Penelope and Odysseus feel for each other. Also, the detachment between Odysseus's ship and the island of the Sirens portrays separation (Hinds 137). The artwork displays the emotions of disjunction and longing that Odysseus feels for the Sirens. The feelings of detachment,

He uses the words “tears” and “distress” to detail the way a hopeless person looks. Furthermore he also describes the procession as “Heavy” giving the readers a grasp on the burden of this procession. Similarly in “A Walk on the Long Stone Serpent” the author uses imagery when he states “I closed my eyes and tried to visualize those men and women who had carried the very stones I was now seeing in the wall. Throughout the Odyssey, Odysseus is always portrayed as this amazing hero who saved Troy and is in turn loved by everybody. However, in reality, he is nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing. Odysseus’s hubris, selfish recklessness and dependence on divine intervention reveals just how incompetent he is. Margaret Atwood’s siren song is also an amazing metaphor for Odysseus’s darker trait, showing how he isn’t this admirable hero but a despicable villain. Just like the sailors who were tempted by the siren song, Odysseus is tempted by his own hubris.
In "The Odyssey" by homer and "An Ancient Gesture" by Edna St.Vincent Millay, the dipiction of grief is developed as a universal theme ,according to both of these texts, the characters experience feeling grief. Many forms of popular culture today are inspired by themes, characters, and other references in various types of classical literature. John Denver's song 'Calypso'; is about the relationship between men and women, and he bases this comparison on the relationship between Kalypso and Odysseus in Homer's the Odyssey. In 'Calypso'; Denver portrays women in general as being superior to men by using the beautiful and enchanting goddess, Kalypso, from Homer's epic. John Denver encompasses all women in his song by providing Kalypso as a universal symbol. Along with the relationship between Odysseus and Kalypso and men and women, there are other interpreted allusions from the Odyssey to Kalypso's song.

Brains over brawn, who will win this battle?Homer's tale of Odysseus' adventures in “The Odyssey” show that being intelligent and cunning can be far better than having physical strength. Being physically strong certainly has its advantages, but not in all circumstances. Strength in intelligence shows new meaning of strength. Odysseus is amused with himself when he defeats Polyphemus. His great skills with a bow outweigh the others abilities. Knowledge of the placement of his bed win his beloveds heart.
The Odyssey is a a beautiful Epic about a man who has hope through his entire journey. When we see him on Calypso he has been to sea for a while, while he wants to go home he continues to go to her bed each night, however regrets it in the morning. One part about this journey that sticks out is why its taking so long.It wouldn't have taken this long is he didn't poke out Poseidon's son (Polyphemus) eye, which let to the Polyphemus praying that Odysseus does return home he just happens to return home alone through treacherous journey. This led to the twenty year journey.
Homer's great literary classic, The Odyssey, represents and illustrates many emotional and mental values. All of these values can be classified under three different main themes that are constant throughout the epic tale. These themes are: A boy's struggle to be a man, a king's struggle to reclaim his kingdom, and a man's struggle to return home. As one reads this book it will become more and more evident to them that a man's struggle to get home is the most important theme throughout Homer's adventure.
Sing I me, Muse, and through me tell the story of the lady nymph goddess Calypso. Oh so beautiful and immortal who lives in the sea- hollowed caves on the island Ogygia. She craved the hero of Troy, king of Ithaka, son of Laertes, a mortal and took him as her own. Nine long years they spent on the island together.

It is an epic poem or story told of a hero name Odysseus on a 20-year voyage trying to get back home from the Trojan War. The great epic poem known as The Odyssey and attributed to Homer was probably first written down around the eighth century BC, but the origins of the ancient story in myth, legend, and folklore and art appear to be much older. Ten years after the fall of Troy, the victorious Greek hero Odysseus has still not returned to his native land Ithaca. A band of rowdy suitors, believing Odysseus to be dead, has overrun his palace, courting his faithful—though weakening—wife Penelope, and going through his stock for food. With permission from Zeus, the goddess Athena, Odysseus' greatest immortal ally, appears in disguise and urges Odysseus' son Telemachus to seek news of his father at Pylos and Sparta. However, the suitors, led by Antinous, plan to ambush him upon return.
The use of visual imagery in each poem immensely contributed to conveying the theme. In the poem
