This past week was the 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther pinning the 95 theses to the church doors marking the start of the protestant reformation. Martin Luther was a man who at times did cause harm but overall, for all he did for the European society and the Religious Society, he had done more good than bad. He had gone against the Catholic Church, a very dangerous risk, so he could bring the Catholic Church's corruption to light. Martin Luther never intended for the Peasant Revolt to happen and had to make a huge sacrifice in order for the Protestant Reformation to continue. And although there was a lot of violence the protestant reformation had caused many positive impacts both socially and religiously. Martin Luther overall had only wanted for others to be able to connect to god freely without the church interfering.
Martin Luther had gone against the church, a very dangerous thing to do, so he could bring the Catholic Church's corruption to light. The Pope wanted to be the only one who had the power to interpret the bible and that the interpretation of the bible belonged to solely only him, but there is no proof in the bible that they are the only ones who can interpret the bible (“The Interpretation of the Bible”). The Pope had been lying to God's followers, they were being selfish only wanting power and money a good example of corruption.
