Language has the power to inform and persuade.A story and a passage may give you the power to do something effective. Language is a strong weapon that is used for and against many people. The article , ”Walking with Living feet,” is a strong brief example of an informative writing .A speech can also be an effective tool used to push people to make a difference at times,for example Elie Wiesel’s speech.

Language has been an integral part of human existence since the dawn of time. Our innate ability to communicate has guided the progress of civilization since its modest beginnings and facilitates our understanding of what it means to be human. The only practical way to thoroughly express one’s identity is through language, whether it be verbal speech or written text. It is only through this medium that we are able to fulfill our roles as a social people, who use discourse to cultivate relationships both on a personal and communal level. Language defines the human notion of self by revealing culture and beliefs, making individuality context-specific, and providing identity markers.

Language can be proven powerful in the way that it allows people to understand other’s ideas and provides strength and motivation, which unites people together to form communities without the limitations of hope. Communities can be created by understanding other’s ideas. By sharing

James Baldwin focuses on explaining the origin of Black English while Amy Tan discusses the unequal treatments she had to see her mother face while growing up. Rarely, if ever, do we stop mid-sentence, and think about what we are saying. He walks around with a full head of hair, grey beard and a coffee mug, that’s Chad Kebrdle. One of the coolest English professors at Ancilla college, let-lone the entire state of Indiana. Mr. Kebrdle is the sort of teacher children pray for. He’s a really relaxed guy with a very unique teaching style. He is very understanding of his students, he emphasizes the use of scheduled working habits and he provokes an eagerness in his students to want to learn. Our society is consumed by news of evil and hate. We can't, and won't, let evil win. We have to shift to love and unity. We can make this shift possible through the power of language.

I recently, came across an article titled Understanding the Power of Words in Multicultural Education written by Obiakor, Smith, & Sapp according to them “Historically, words are powerful! In many cases, they are used appropriately when we value people and used inappropriately when we hate them. As a result, they have become powerful tools in multicultural education and interactions” (Obiakor, Smith, & Sapp, 2007). Communication is important, especially when dealing with multicultural groups of students in a day to day classroom situation. In fact, it is important to become familiar with all the students cultural back ground.

Language informs, inspire, and persuade individuals to impact society in many different ways. In speeches given by authorities trying to inspire people to do better, trying to persuade your mom into buying you an ice-cream cone, when you’re channel surfing and the History channel comes on and the speaker is informing you on the nature of kangaroos. Language can be used in many different ways. Its most powerful form is when it is used to control others. The book we just finished in class, Animal Farm, which is an extended metaphor about the events leading up to the Russian Revolution and on to the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. For example, in Animal Farm, the pigs are always threatening the animals that Mr. Jones would come back. Another example would be a Michelin Tires ad. This ad is saying that without these tires, you are killing your baby. Language can be uplifting and powerful, but using language to control others, holds more power.

Language and communication are interdependent to one another. Communication influences the way that people think and interact with others, whilst language is used to express thoughts and feelings in order to better the communication between individuals. Therefore it is known that without the use of language, people would be unable to express their feelings which would lead to an extreme lack of communication.
