The dictionary definition of ethics is, "a set of moral principles, especially ones relating to or affirming a specified group, field, or form of conduct" (Webster). In other words, ethics are guidelines or rules of what's right and wrong in which people follow. These guidelines are based on morals, values, and the well-being of others. In comparison, "business ethics is the study of proper business policies and practices regarding potentially controversial issues, such as corporate governance, insider trading, bribery, discrimination, corporate social responsibility and fiduciary responsibilities" (Investopedia, n.d.). The first book, The Practice of Social Research by Earl Babbie discusses ethical issues in social research and the code of ethics that help guide researchers conduct their findings. Babbie states, "social researchers have ethical obligations to the community as well as to subjects. These obligations include reporting results fully and accurately as well as disclosing errors, limitations, and other shortcomings in the research" (84). Stats is a process of interviewing, collecting, processing, and presenting data to an audience. It is dishonest for a researcher to intentionally alter data or leave out important information. There have been several allegations and controversies against Fox news for being biased towards almost all of the topics they cover. They display skewed graphs and charts to "prove" something they feel the people should know. For example, in 2017 Fox posted several tweets with exaggerated stats about the unemployment rates within the first hundred days under the Trump, Obama, Bush, and Clinton administration. The Independent article shows the graphs that were tweeted, and the numbers were 4.5% under Trump, 9.0% under Obama, 4.4% under Bush, and 7.1% under Clinton. (Zatat). Although those numbers may or may not be correct, it's difficult to assume one president is creating more jobs than the other because the economy was different when each president started their first term. This information is extremely misleading, and some people may even assume that Republicans are better at maintaining lower unemployment rates than Democrats. There are several factors that causes unemployment in an economy and if Fox were to report the data again, they should take into consideration what situation each president was in rather than displaying numbers with no real meaning to
