Richard Gere (Edward) and Julia Roberts (Vivian) starred in the Pretty Woman (1990). Gere played a role as a wealthy businessman and Roberts played a role of a quirky and charming prostitute. Vivian escorted Edward to a hotel and offered her to stay with him to remain his companion sexually and otherwise for a week. He offered her 3000 dollars and lavish lifestyle in return. Vivian agreed to it and her wardrobe was changed. She was transformed into a lady with class and substance. However, she breaks the rule of their arrangement and she developed an emotional feeling towards him. Edward indicates her that her dream of being with him cannot come true however, he offered her a house and money so that she could start a new life. Vivian was insulted by this offer and refused. In the end of the movie, Edward goes to Vivian and kisses her. The movie ends with a happy ending. Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (2001) is a remake of the Pretty woman (1990) although Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (2001) has a similar premise but a very different plot twist and conclusion for consumption of the Indian audience (Ostrowski, 2016). Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (2001) started with a song and dance while introducing the film’s love interests Raj played by Salman Khan and Priya played by Rani Mukherjee. Raj and Priya attend a wedding, where they spot each other and start a musical flirtation by singing a song. Raj’s grandfather hears about Raj’s interest in Priya and consults Priya’s family for a possibility of a marriage. He has already consulted an astrologist who said they are a perfect match for each other. Priya’s family and Priya agree to this arranged marriage. Raj’s grandfather’s wish is to see his great-grandson before his dies. All this scene is not a part of the Pretty woman (1990). These scenes were added in the movie to give the audience a religious reference and to legitimise the relationship between Priya and Raj. Priya soon becomes pregnant after their marriage but due to an accident, she loses her unborn child. The doctor also informs her that she will never be able to give birth to a child due to complications. Priya believes that she is a failure that she cannot fulfill her grandfather-in-laws wishes.
