The Problem of Knowledge Due to Language Language is defined as a collection of agreed symbols or signs that communicate/transfer ideas, knowledge, emotion, factual, and abstract between beings (senders and receivers). This enables each being to interact with others efficiently. It also enhances knowledge in various ways. Language is a contraction of ideas, which is in the form that can be conveniently exposed to other beings. Each group of people develop their own language to serve their use. In all kinds of socialisation, language is the main tool that is used to expose sentiments. It is significant that the method of observations, reasoning and experiments can be repeated and checked independently by the others. Throughout scientific method, language is used to report observation and experiment, and then experiment helps to contribute laws. ‘Science seeks to discover and formulate in general terms the conditions under which events occur’ Ernest Nagel. Thus, language has an important role in gaining, proving and reporting knowledge. Natural Science relies very much on language. Without language, laws and theory cannot be contributed; experiments and observations cannot be reported. Although, a diagram can be drawn to illustrate experiments and observation, language is still indeed very significant in order to describe and explain laws and theories. One problem, which may arise in Natural Science, is that scientists use specialized language which probably can hardly be understood by those who do not have backgrounds about Science before. For instance, in chemistry, letters are used to symbolize each element in the periodic table, such as H stands for hydrogen and Na stands for sodium; in physics, letters are used in formulas – S stands for displacement.
