The progression of social development is the culture of an organization; and as the culture changes, the people within the organization also change. Leaders can operate as change agents to bring about transformation and success in an organization by creating and implementing a vision for the future. This paper will endeavor to discuss the following: the challenges of transformation of complex systems; the writer’s chosen organization’s mission, values, and overall goals; how the organization is viewed in the community; the organization’s culture using Schein’s culture definition; identify a relevant leadership style; apply Collins’ Hedgehog Concept and Flywheel Concept to the organization’s level of greatness; and identify the organization’s readiness for change.
Complex Systems Transformation
According to Carr, Hard, and Trahant (1996), a complex adaptive system is a collection of individual agents with freedom to act in ways that are not always totally predictable, and whose actions are interconnected so that one agent’s actions changes the context for other actors. Examples include a healthcare team, a family, or a committee (Plsek & Greehalgh, 2001). One challenge of a complex system is the prevalence of unclear boundaries.
