Is it greater to be known for generations or to immortalize your soul? Many Ancient Romans believed that being glorious, celebrated, and distinguished is the reason for existence. To Boethius, who was a Roman senator, consul, and philosopher in the early 6th century, being eulogized was not his purpose, instead, Boethius strived for the immortality of the individual soul.
