Criminals also would not care about upholding the law in order to acquire a firearm legally. Therefore law-abiding people would lose their ability to defend themselves resulting in guns in the hands of lawbreakers (Ludwig 4). “There is no politically or legally feasible way to reduce the stock of guns now in private possession to the point that their availability to criminals would be much affected….And even if there were, law-abiding people would lose a means of protecting themselves long before criminals lost a means of attacking them” (Ludwig 4). Dana Loesch, conservative talk radio host, notes that a law fearing honorable citizen is a trustworthy possessor of arms. She claims that guns are used 60 times more to preserve lives rather than
Have you ever wondered what it's like to have life and then in a blink of an eye it's gone? I have. I always wonder am I just going to die and see black or is there really life after death? People that lose their lives due to gun violence, their families have experienced this first hand.I am for stricter gun control laws.
The article “Gun Control Laws: Should the United States adopt stronger gun control laws?” focuses on the debate on passing stricter gun control laws. For example, supporters believe that gun control laws will decrease mass shootings and gun violence. Additionally, adopting these laws does not violate the Second Amendment, and as a result it does not limit the government from the use of fire arms when it is necessary. However, opponents argue that the gun control laws will not stop gun violence. The problem is the people holding the gun and not the gun itself. Furthermore, opponents gathered that stronger gun control laws do violate the Second Amendment. The author illustrates the debate on whether the United States should or should not adopt stronger gun control laws.
What gun control laws are going to help stop mass shootings? Even if the government banned the sale of assault rifles and guns in general, people with bad intentions are going to purchase them illegally. In the three recent mass shooting that caused many deaths, the shooters got their guns illegally with no trace of the sale on these weapons. Sandy Hook,Columbine, and San Bernardino were all mass shootings where the shooters got their guns illegally, stole the gun from family members or other people, and caused a lot of danger and harm to people. There would be no regulations to stop them because even if there were stricter gun laws, they still would be able to purchase their guns illegally.Stricter gun laws will not prevent crime, people will still get illegal firearms, and no sales to the public will reduce revenue.
There have been protests for stricter gun control laws such as banning assault weapons and stronger background checks. Especially after all the mass shootings that have occurred in the past years. Many of those incidents could have been prevented if gun laws had been stricter. More restrictive gun control laws target gun violence and crimes. House Republican Leader, Jim Durkin states that ,”the law is aimed at reducing crime in Chicago” (Smith). He also mentioned that 425 people have been murdered with guns so far in Chicago in 2016. The shocking part is that nearly 60% of those guns used to commit those crimes were purchased out of the city. The sad truth is that no matter how many deaths result from gun violence, nothing will be done. More
What makes people think laws are going to stop all the madness? Mass shootings happen everywhere but nobody can stop them. Passing gun control laws are not going to stop the shootings. People break the law all the time and must of them never get caught. Within all the mass shootings that have gone on and with all the gun laws that are already out, adding more would not be a good idea because the people would not get the reaction that they want. People would just complain more about the laws and the outcome would steady be the same.
“Guns don't kill people; people kill people.” With the United States having the highest gun ownership rate in the world, controversial conversation arises between two groups of people: pro-gun and pro-gun control. Gun control laws should be much more stern as it could decrease gun fatalities in public mass shootings, defeat gun purchasing loopholes, and promote general peacefulness, so that Americans will feel safer.
Should gun control laws be changed? Well, first, gun control is entirely based off the notion that people are committing gun related crimes because they have access to them and these debates are whether or not the nation should ban guns entirely. This whole rebel of gun control change is said to help reduce violent crimes (Swickard). This is a well-known debate in today’s world. Many are involved in protests all around the world, while their schools are getting shot up and are asking for changes to make gun control laws stricter. However, the fact is, guns are not the problem in this world, it is the individual. If you put a gun in a criminal’s hand, they could do whatever they wish. Gun control laws should not be changed because current laws
It will come as no surprise to learn that the United States has the highest rate of gun ownership in the Western World. In fact, the United States is described as a place with its own unique culture around firearms (Kohn, 2004). Given the violence associated with firearms, it behooves policy makers to come up with sound policies that will allow individuals the freedom to exercise their constitutional right as contained in the 2nd Amendment, while maintaining law and order in the society. Laws that regulate firearms in this case, come in two forms. There are those that protect the use of firearms for self-defense, sport and hunting, and those that restrict the access to, and/or use of firearms. There has been a great devotion
Gun Control is very controversial many people believe that there is nothing wrong with the gun control laws in place right now. The Republican Party and The Democratic Party has different views on Gun Control. Many tragedies have occurred such as school and mass shootings. This year gun-related shootings have increased. The Second Amendment is the right to bear arms which can be interpreted differently by others. Specifically, the 2nd Amendment states A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Gun Control Laws should be strict throughout all states in order to insure the safety of others.
The news making the headlines this past couple of days is the genuinely shocking unforeseen improvement of six ladies and three men including a minister who were shot dead at 9 p.m. on Wednesday June 17, 2015 at the Emmanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston South Carolina , a chronicled church which was developed in 1816 as a standout amongst the most settled African-American holy places in the United States. There were three people who survived including a five-year-old young woman whose grandmother prompted her to play dead and that is the methods by which she survived. (Bankoff and Hartmann). Gun control is a greatly delicate issue with different sides and viewpoints. One side feel it is tricky to take away a man's privilege
In this paper I discuss why gun control laws are working. I am in favor of very strict gun control and removal of guns from the hands of criminals. I n the paper, I discuss some of the most objectionable practices:
Gun production is increasing drastically over the years (Horsley). Having this in mind, should there be a gun control law? People have different thoughts about it. Some may say that the guns are not the problem because they are not the ones who kill, but the person’s decision to shoot. Others believe that they are beneficially as for protection. The argument on having gun control is a controversy on protection, the background checks, and gun death statistics.
Gun Politics in the U.S. are defined by two distinct groups: those who are for tighter if not outright ban on guns. And those who want to preserve every American’s rights to bear Arms under the second amendment. This of course led to disagreements when it came to the interpretation of laws and court cases related to firearms. Among other things related to the issue, like the effects gun control has on crime and the public safety (Rozsa, 2017). Debates regarding the access to firearms by the general populous and gun violence in the United States have been characterized by the concerns about the rights to bear arms and the responsibility of the government to serve the needs of its citizens. Such as the prevention of crime and
in addition,if the gun control laws were strict that would not be the reason for death.
There are a few laws that I would change, simply because I do not agree with the conditions of these laws. The right to bear arms, the legalization of marijuana, and the transportation of alcohol are examples are laws that I feel need to be adjusted or edited.
