During the year 2014, ISIS was created and ever since their creation they have caused terror like no other group on the planet. They had captured large areas of Iraq and Syria over the period of two years, captured many military grade weapons to increase their power, and recruits more people to join and help their “cause”. Their recruitment numbers have been increasing as well, due to their spreading influence “A 20-year-old Ohio man was arrested Monday on suspicion of trying to join ISIS, the Department of Justice said”(Yan 1). Also with this increase, they have also got their hands on weapons, such as heavy artillery guns/howitzers , mines, mortars, and etc, even using water as a weapon. What this has resulted in, is they can use this to their …show more content…
Critics have also argued that ISIS is a dying down, because the Iraqi military is now fighting them and reducing their strength as well. While in Syria, the Russians have sent their air force to unrelentingly bomb them, while government troops from the Syrian government move into eliminate the group. As the Russian air force had been deployed there has been progress, however the Russians have been accused of targeting civilians and civilian property, such as schools and hospitals. This is evident is Aleppo as hospital staff have claimed that Russian jets that have flown over hospitals have dropped their bomb loads on them, causing massive destruction and killing staff and patients alike “Between Thursday and Saturday, the regime or its Russian ally bombed four hospitals, rebel-held Aleppo’s only blood bank and a forensic pathology lab, nearly all in the Al Sha’ar neighborhood, one of the biggest and poorest parts of east Aleppo.”(Gutman 4). Many officials have said that civilian casualties have increased when the Russians had intervened in Syria, thus causing the population to flee and lose faith in the Russians as they continue bombing ISIS and other targets, such as the many Syrian rebel factions in the Civil War “Apart from the nine dead, eight missing and dozens injured, this strike (like several others) has left the local population without access to vital medical services. According to MSF, the local population of 40,000 people can now be added to the long list of civilians “without access to medical services in [the] active zone of conflict” that is Syria.”(Sacklen 5). Many Russian officials have also denied claims that their air force had bombed civilian centers and have claimed that they have only been targeting ISIS and other targets. Also in Iraq the military has made slow
I'm sick of Racial profiling in this country, America and many other countries. How can the government talk about bombing Syria when it is not the country that has done wrong it is the minority that have chosen to operate from said country. Another thing is how people see Muslims as the people in the wrong just because Muslim extremists are the ones causing problems in the world right now. One of my closest family friends is a Muslim and in now way because of him being one means that he wants to murder and kill anyone that doesn't believe in the same things as him. There are Muslim doctors saving lives, taxi drivers, public servants I could go on. My point is stop profiling people on their religion when in truth they have not done anything
In 2003, President George Walker Bush and his administration sent the United States military to war in Iraq to overthrow Saddam Hussein, Iraq’s ruler and dictator, who murdered over 600,000 innocent people, and “...used chemical weapons to remove Kurds from their villages in northern Iraq…” (Rosenberg 2). According to the Department of Defense’s website, the war removed Saddam Hussein from power, ending an era when “Iraqis had fewer rights than when its representatives signed the Human Rights Declaration in 1948” (1). American blood, money, and honor was spent in what was allegedly a personal war and perhaps a fight to gain oil and natural resources, but only history may reveal the truth. Although the Iraq War removed tyrant Saddam Hussein from power, the failures of the war dwarf the successes.

(Michales) The Russian Defense Ministry said that a training camp and ammo depot were destroyed by bombings near the Islamic State’s defector capital in Syria, Raqqa. The countries of France, Turkey, the United States, Germany, Britain, Qutar, and Saudi Arabia; all say that Russia’s actions will “only fuel more radicalization and extremism.” (Michales) Russia’s airstrikes complicate U.S. efforts to build a moderate opposition in Syria, designed to counter the Islamic State there. (Michales) Pentagon efforts to train and deploy forces stalled before Russia’s airstrikes, but any future recruitment could be difficult if the Pentagon doesn’t provide U.S- backed rebels with guarantee of protection if they come under Russian attack. (Michales) Iraq is accepting help from both the United States and Russia is an ally to the Shiite- dominated government, Iraqi leaders will follow them, while the U.S has been trying to force the Iraqis to compromise with the Sunnis. Nonetheless, when the time comes, Iraq will pick Russia for help to fight
The Iraq War was one of the most controversial and expensive wars in the history of the United States, so expensive infact, that before the war, Iraq owed the United States four billion dollars, and after the war, the US owed Iraq over seven billion. The decision to go to war with Iraq was based off of the false intelligence that Iraq and Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, the United States entered Iraq to destroy these weapons, and remove Saddam Hussein from power. No weapons of mass destruction were ever found, therefore the US should have never declared war. Although the Iraq War eliminated the dictator Saddam Hussein from power, it cost the US exceedingly, in the well-being of the soldiers, in economics, and in foreign affairs.
Pros: Building capacity and reducing ethnic tensions in Iraq and Syria may decrease the chances of ISIS to advance in the regions. No U.S boots on ground. Promotes regional responsibility for their stability. Addressing the problems in the long run. It does not portray the U.S as war against the Muslim world.
The word “ terrorism” is used a lot in the world nowadays. The definition of a terrorist is someone who uses intentionally indiscriminate violence as a means to create terror or fear, in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim. Some example of what we have establish as terror attacks are the Twin Towers in New York on the 11 of september 2001 or the Paris attack on november the 13 2015. The attacks were done by two different groups of terrorists, but what people tend to ignore is that these terrorist groups did not come to life from the unknown. What people tend to ignore or maybe just don’t understand or don’t know is that in this case, Al Qaeda was a creation of the United States of America, a country which was colossally
However, most of the russian and american airstrikes have not only destroyed ISIS camps and syrian rebel attacks but small villages. It’s a fact that an american airstrike did blow up a syrian hospital by accident. The hospital did have civilians at the and most russian and American air strikes target each other more than they target camps and convoys of ISIS and other terrorist groups. The people of Syria state that the airstrikes have made there lives a living
The controversy over whether the United States should take stronger military action against ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) has been discussed the past few months. The public opinion has grown more favorable to taking stronger action; however, there is a minority of people that still believe the Unites States should stay out of war as long it can. If the United States avoids war, then ISIS will become a bigger threat to the country than it already is. The Unites States should take stronger military force against ISIS. ISIS has proven to be a very powerful threat to our country and other countries around the world; if they are not stopped, ISIS will continue to aim danger at our country and our people.
What group would most of those living in the United States identify as the largest international threat? Many people would very likely immediately think of an organization that is heard throughout informative broadcastings quite often in the American society. An example of a group that the average American citizen would think to could often be what is commonly known as ISIS, or the “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.” When an American individual hears this name, a thought of insecurity might surface as he or she might recall all the terrible things that many people have seen on the media that describes this group. There are many international threats in the Middle East that the American people do not know much about, however education could be the ultimate method to defeating these groups or organizations that exist.
Religious terrorism is majorly underpinned by the idea that religious terrorists employ different violent tactics that are more deadly and indiscriminate compared to other forms of terrorism. Religious terrorism is alleged to be distinct from other forms of terrorism because it involves acts of purification (Gunning & Jackson 2011). These acts are based of ancient rituals, such as self-sacrifice, commonly martyrdom, or targeting a large portion of noncombatants to sacrifice or because they are non-believers, instead of targeting specific political symbols to achieve political aims (Gunning & Jackson 2011). Considering this view, religious terrorism is argued to be deadlier because such terrorists aspire to cause maximum casualties. Following this argument, this characteristic of religious terrorism is different to other forms of terrorism because they do not target any specific defined political demands, since they want to destroy the society and eradicate a great portion of the population (Spencer 2006). This type of act is grounded on the idea that such terrorists see their struggle as good against evil (Spencer 2006). As a result they have dehumanize their victims and anyone who are not apart of their struggle as infidels or traitors (Spencer 2006). Not only does this indiscriminate violence becomes morally acceptable for them but it becomes a righteous and a necessary expedient for their religious purpose and objectives. Furthermore, the idea religious terrorists are
State terrorism occurs when a county’s own government, within its own borders, oppresses its own people, takes away their personal freedoms and instills fear in those it is supposed to protect (Taylor & Swanson, 2016). Adolph Hitler is a prime example of a leader who committed some of the worst acts of state terrorism known to man, killing millions of men, women, and even children during a dark period known as the Holocaust. According to the United States Department of State (USDOS, 2017) Iran, Sudan, and Syria are currently recognized as the only countries that contribute to state-sponsored terrorism. Simply put, state sponsored terrorism is when a state willingly chooses to sponsor a known terrorist groups within its borders. A state may do this in order to further their political agenda. Taylor & Swanson (2016) describe state-enabled terrorism as when a state allows a terrorist group to use the land within their borders as a safe haven, however, they do not provide any sort of financial assistance and by allowing the group to operate without interference, expect their citizens not to be harmed.
Terrorism is a serious problem in today's society and there is plenty of proof of attacks in places all around the world. In 2014 over 32000 people died from terrorism and terrorism costs the global economy billions of dollars every single year. Factoring in all financial losses from the attacks on 9/11 equals to about 75 billion dollars in today's money and its impacts continue to this day, over 15 years later. Terrorists are becoming more organized in large groups such as ISIS who even managed to take over parts of different countries and adulterate them. Islamic terrorism is a serious problem in Islam and we must root out the bad in it because the bad in it will only grow unless we put a stop to terrorism and soon.
It is natural for people to ask themselves what is their purpose of living and why they exist in the first place. Because of these queries, religion was given birth so that questions with regard life and the life after death are addressed. All over the world, people embrace different religions - Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Paganism, and many more. Among the many religions, Christianity is the most popular. Christians believe that there is a God in heaven who cares for them and that He loves them. Together with the popularity of Christianity, there is also the religion of Muslims. Allah in Islam is the equivalent of God for the Christians. According to Hallowell (2012), if Christians believe that they need Jesus to save them from eternal condemnation, Muslims believe that they are born sinless. Meaning, they are holy and
