The Pros And Cons Of The American Revolutionary War

The Declaration of Independence written and signed in Independence Hall in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776 states “We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal.” Following this statement, the Declaration of Independence goes on to list all the freedoms afforded us as Americans. But if we were given all these freedoms such as the right to bear arms, the right of free speech, the freedom of religion then why are we still fighting for these things 241 years later? For example The Revolutionary War was fought to gain our freedom to self govern; we fought a Civil War to end slavery, which is the complete opposite of freedom; and we are currently in a war with the radical Islamic group known as ISIS to gain our freedom from terrorism and to claim the religion we believe in. Just because a group of men got together 241 years ago and said we are free to pursue happiness doesn’t mean we haven’t and won’t have to continue to fight to keep it. To maintain and to gain freedom we must fight for and protect it. We have, over time, had many conflicts regarding certain freedoms, whether it is more freedoms for a group of people or none at all. The American Revolutionary War was an International war that began as a conflict between Great Britain and her Thirteen Colonies, which were declaring their independence as the United States of America. During that war, 8,000 Revolutionary Soldiers died of wounds inflicted during battle; 17,000 Revolutionary Soldiers died of
