Were you aware that recent studies have shown that tuition-reimbursement programs have led to increased productivity in employees? Has Riverfront ever considered implementing a tuition-reimbursement program?
Mark Hollet and I, along with other Riverfront employees, have been eager you return to college. However, we are unable to afford the costs of tuition and books. As a result, many of us were forced to go back to work before we could complete our education. There are some continuing education courses that are available in the evenings at local universities, which we would like to enrol in.
Local companies such as: Worldwide Trust, Dominion Securities and Mid Mountain Group are offering reimbursement for fees and books. This being conditional
The audience for the Tuition Reimbursement Proposal is the Executive Leadership Board at Oregon Providence Health Plans. In addition, this board consists of eight members, highly educated professionals, with years of experience, and speak fluid English. Providence Health Plans believe strongly in employee education, whether it is learning new software programs or for personal job growth. Furthermore, because the organization is supportive of their employees, the proposal should receive a positive response. Although, one area of concern is the budget cuts that affect all the departments within the Healthcare Plan. It will be important to provide detailed facts to support my position on this proposal and why it is valid, even though the organization
College is a head turner, eye catcher, and attention grabber. From making the decision to even attend to selecting the perfect school, the whole experience turns out to be incredibly stressful and multiple aspects go into what seems simple at first glance. The cost of attending college is on the rise. Parents and students anxiously await scholarship letters to help with these rising costs of education. State schools usually offer a financial advantage, but a new “law” is being proposed - free in-state college tuition to those students with a 3.5 GPA or higher. Few benefits are available and numerous disadvantages are present when it comes to this recently produced regulation. A few negative factors in this situation will be covered and the explanations will go into depth to prove that this idea is too good to be true. Even though the conception of free college is enticing, the cons outweigh the pros.
Is a tax-supported school different in principle from a tax-supported church? Schools and churches are similar in their goals. A school seeks to educate the members so that they can be more productive in society; churches seek to educate their members, so they can become better people spiritually. Now we have the question, is a tax supported school different from a tax supported church? When looking at authority, it always goes back to, “Who provides the money?”. In a tax supported institution, the authority rests with whoever is supplying the funds, which is usually a government. The government will have power over the school or church, because without this funding, the institutions would fail. This authority will determine what to teach,
In the article Wolfram communicates that the federal government is spending tens of billions of dollars in providing federal aid to student that are in college, through many actions like grants, loans and tax programs. But there is still yet to be evidence that suggest that these so called programs or policies have helped to decrease student loan debt and provided an aid to those attending college. Wolfram mentions that the federal government this year has purposed that federal tuition aid on college cost will undergo a phase where federal assistance will slowly die down. Wolfram states that the federal government will try to create a legal structure
Tuition Reimbursement Program is a contract between the employer and the employee that summaries specific terms in which the employer may pay for the employee's continuing education. Usually, tuition cost is paid in advance by the employee and reimbursement is paid later by employer depending on the criteria of the company program. The Internal Revenue Service refers to the Tuition Reimbursement Program as an Educational Assistance Benefits which is tax-free up to $5,250 a year for tuition fees, books, supplies. But the student must attend a qualifying educational institution and maintain a “C” letter grade or higher (IRS, Publication 970, page 60 & 67).
There are only five years left before the 2020 Recommendation to increase the number of registered nurses with Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from 40% to 80%, would take effect. Nurses, who have no BSN credentials and are not yet enrolled in any educational program, are aware of the employers’ preference for BSN prepared nurses. Cognizant of the financial implication of enrolling in a BSN program, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommended that
The prospect of attending college can be both exciting and disconcerting, particularly given the current cost of tuition. “Free college programs that cover students' tuition are a step toward addressing issues of the cost of higher education, but leave questions of quality unanswered” (Bayer). Which means free tuition for a student that doesn’t have financial aid assisting them. I believe college should be free within the United States. Although there are states with “free”college or some kind of program to assists students in ; I believe all the states should provide free college for students. This being said, college should be free for students; no matter their race, religion, or sex. They would only be responsible for utilities and whatever else they chose to buy. Tution would essentially be paid by taxpayers within the state. Students can’t afford tuition and expenses due to them not making enough money at their part time job while going to school full-time. Even if a student could afford the tuition they still would not have enough to cover their other expenses.
College tuition should not be free in any means necessary. Students would not take college seriously if there was no price. College students would totally take advantage of the opportunity to go to college for free and completely blow it , it would even the playing field for everyone to be equal because college tuition is what keeps everyone else out. College would then be accessible to anyone who wanted to go.
Due to the ever changing landscape of the business world many employers often send their employees to attend trainings and seminars. Though this specialized training sessions are costly the return a company gets from it is worth the investment. A company that constantly sends its employees to school to acquire a fresh and new ideas has a greater advantage than a company that do not offer such benefit.
Since we have already approved the budget increase for our employees to take full advantage of the tuition reimbursement program, then there is really nothing that is holding us back from implementing the program right away. The sooner that we introduce this to our employees, the sooner that they can begin to take advantage of the program and begin the road to increasing their knowledge base and advancing their level of training within our company. If we have numerous people interested who can benefit from this we will have more loyal and stupendous employees that will strive to become more and build up their position in our company. According to Elearnersexpress.com (2010) there are many different institutes they can attend.
Tuition Reimbursement is a viable option that our company should look at as a means of giving our employees a way to advance their education and their positions in our company. This company was built by people and it is in those people that we should invest in, nurture and show that we are committed to their success not just here but in their life success. Often times companies look outside of their own ranks to hire people with advance degrees or more experience when there should be people here that get promoted so that growth my begin from the entry level as it should like the roots of a tree. Many of our employees are not satisfied in the positions they are in but this is not to say they are not satisfied with the company but they
classes that are approved under the program will be eligible for reimbursement any other classes or
This past year here at company X we have had a very profitable year; and it’s important that we do everything that we can to make sure that we maintain this strong progression forward. Now, of course we have made strong financial strides; and we will continue to improve on the external factors that have gotten us to this point. However, I feel that it is imperative that we also pay close attention to the internal factors that will pay dividends for this company in the long run.
American students owe a total of 1.3 trillion dollars in student loans, and about 44.2 million students are in debt. Colleges all over the United States require a tuition for students to attend, which is detrimental to families with low incomes. As a result, students from low income families opt to not attend college. A solution for this problem would be to institute tuition free colleges. Advocates for free colleges state that it would enable students to achieve their dreams, regardless of their monetary situation. Proponents against free colleges say that the public would have to be taxed too much to cover the expenses. College should be free because it would help the country economically, allow students to be more focussed, and it would let students to pursue any career that they would like.
There have been arguments when discussing the price of attending college. The main argument that we have is whether college tuition is too expensive or not. Over the last few decades the college tuition rates have increased drastically, but is a rate increase necessarily a good or bad thing. I personally believe that the cost to attend college is too expensive especially for low and middle-income families. There are many reasons why tuition could be considered too expensive they include, rise of tuition, little financial aid, and lack of college savings to name a few. The first reason why college tuition is considered too expensive is the continuing rise of tuition itself. Between the years 1973 to 2008 tuition for a four-year increased
