For this reason we give standardized test so admission committees can look at results from their standardized test knowing the students knowledge among other students. This is fair in most cases since all students are receiving the same material and are offered the same opportunity as the other students.
Standardized testing has many cons but it also has its pros. Standardized Testing can be a guideline for teachers on what to teach their students and what they are learning and if they need help If they are falling behind. Since all students around the state and county take standardized test such as the ACT the SAT or the FCAT it can let parents know where there child stands compared to other students around the state. One major cause standardized testing has to helping teachers is that it allows us to track the students progression. For example it tells us if the student has improved over the years , stayed consistent, or has fallen behind. We can track this because students take test like the FCAT year-round which lets us calculate the progression of the student. Standardized test also lets us compare how boys are doing compared to the girls.(Margie)

Standardized testing is not made to test every student. These tests often ask one sided, bias questions. Claims have been brought against standardized tests in court due to bias. How are they supposed to measure the ability of every student when every student is different? Students learn differently and preform differently depending upon the type of test given. Some students are stronger with essay questions, some with matching, and some with true and false. Some students could not even know the material but get a multiple choice question right through process of elimination. How is this a fair way to measure knowledge? It is not fair to the students that actually study for these tests and know the information required.

Standardized testing has been a major debate for over sixteen years and is still going on in some districts all over the United States. The debate is over who agrees with having standard tests in their schools and who doesn’t, although it’s mostly parents and guardians rather than students who are debating this. There are many pro’s and con’s to having standard tests in schools such as the student is too stressed to be motivated to do their work properly or perhaps it could be because the student suffers from depression whereas on the other hand, teachers are being able to tell where a student is truly at in the course and can help them get back on track and understand what it is that they are learning.
To begin with, standardized testing has not done anything for improving achievement in students. It has been shown most standardized tests only use high levels of cognitive functioning and high application of knowledge and a student's skills. Standardized tests also use “trick words” to throw off a student during the exam. Most students who do take standardized tests, have been proven to fail one or more times. The most
Most teachers do not want to just teach standardized test, but if they do not they will fear they will lose their job. Teachers focus more on teaching the student exams then actually making them learn more about that subject. The pros are that they can improve student’s focus and makes their learning excel. The exams can challenge the student and make them strive harder to pass it. Some parents want to keep the exams to master the basic skills their child should know. The test results only measures their effectiveness and that does not measure their ability. Majority of the students feel that the test is stereotyped and they feel that they will do terrible on the test. Many groups feel that it will be biased based off of lower
General testing in today's school systems has a negative effect upon the actual learning of the students. Standardized testing narrows school curriculum, labels children as failures at a young age, and uses money that could possibly be used in a more productive manner.

The use of standardized testing has always been a very debatable topic. The reason for it is because there are students and teachers that do not think that standard tests are necessary or benefit the students in any way. From student’s view, we all think that it is unnecessary because it puts more stress and we have to spend time studying for this test and taking it when that time could be used for other classes. Also it is not a good way for the people administering the test to measure how smart the students are. There could be students that are very intelligent, but are terrible test takers therefore you can’t just measure out their potential with just one test. Teacher prepare the stuff more over the test then what you actually what you

There are some good causes that come from standardized testing.
To start with, standardized testing is an inefficient way of assessing what students know. For example, most tests are multiple choice, which is an inadequate assessment tool. Also, with multiple choice, students guess and still have a good chance of getting that question right. On multiple choice tests, the correct answer is guaranteed to be in the list of
Standardized tests are annoying little things that students in schools all across the nation have to take every year. Though, if all the facts are taken into consideration, they do not really seem worth it, do they? Many people speculate whether or not they are actually measuring a student’s intelligence or anything like that. It seems that students do not necessarily have to learn the material, only memorize it for a short period of time. The question has to be raised, though-- what exactly qualifies a test to be a standardized test? Well, as described by The Glossary of Education Reform, there are two main things that make a test standardized. The first being that the test “...requires all test takers to answer the same questions, or
