Introduction This is the report to the Psychology 100 class assignment. In the assignment, I handed out surveys about my personality and asked others to rate me; then I collected and analyzed the data. The results will show that how other people see me may or may not be the same as I see myself. The survey form was designed with 10 questionnaires about personality, each question is scale from 1 to 7 . Firstly, I answered the questionnaires for myself, then gave out survey forms to 5 co-workers and 5 friends. On account that they have worked closely with me for a long time, and therefore can view my personality through my behaviors at work, I chose a co-worker group. The other group consists of friends who are not close enough to fully know me. Their rating might represent how others think about me, though their views might not be as accurate as the co-worker group’s view. Results The data I recorded was placed in a table organized by questions and groups; I also calculated the range and average of each. Discussion The results were similar to what I expected. My co-worker group’s views about me are quite close to what I think myself. However, my friend group’s views are different on those questionnaires relating to social skill and self conscience. Question #1: Cautious … Adventurous On the scale, I put myself at a 2 while others gave me an average of 3.6 (friend group),and 3.8 (coworker group). Others thought I was adventurous, contrary to how I viewed
Behaviorism- a theory of learning based upon the idea that all behaviors are acquired through conditioning. Conditioning occurs through interaction with the environment. Behaviorists believe that our responses to environmental stimuli shape our behaviors. Observeable behavior
AP psychology was a class that I walked in not knowing what to expect; I was scared thinking that it would be too challenging for me, yet I proved myself wrong. In my opinion, this is the first class to teach about “the real world”, our society and what is happening to our/others mind and/or body. Ap psychology should be taken by everyone who gets the chance to even if they believe it is too challenging for them, and even if it is. This class isn’t only about passing or getting a perfect grade is about learning how our mind thinks, and all the studies that come along to prove fact and theories. This is a class where you learn and not memorize which are two very different things.
In the section deciding whether you're extrovert or introvert, I scored neutral which I could agree on, but could lean more towards introversion. I prefer to be alone in order to have time to myself. In small groups, or when I feel comfortable I could be more extrovert, but when I'm around higher authority or strangers become very reserved. When it comes to agreeableness this is where I can disagree on my
The second scale I chose to discuss and look further at, is the self-monitoring scale. The self-monitoring scale looks at the personality trait that displays the “extent to which a person changes their behavior depending on the social situation” (Wagner, 2016). The scale lists a series of 25 true of false statements and based off of a set of “correct answers” that matched with your selected answers, will be your score. If the amount of “correct” answers is 12 or lower, you are considered low or an independent person that stays true to themselves. If the amount scored is 13 or higher, you are considered high, or a people pleaser that conforms and “goes with the flow.” The score I received was a 10, or a low score, placing me as an independent
The study will consist of approximately 150 students: 75 subjects in Group A , 75 subjects in Group B (comprised from 4 different classroom groups). They will be asked to take part in a study measuring impression formation on personality and those who volunteer to take part with be divided into groups A and B. All participants will then be required to sign a consent form which will include information about the study to ensure they are willing to take part. The hypothesis i.e. that the central traits of warmth and coldness have a profound affect on impression formation - will not be disclosed until the end of the study as it would invalidate the experiment. Participants will then be asked to read a list of traits that could describe a person on a PowerPoint slide shown on a laptop. Both groups will read a list of character-qualities, group A reading: intelligent—skillful—industrious—warm—determined—practical—cautious and group B reading: intelligent—skillful—industrious—cold—determined—practical—cautious. Each participant will then write a brief sketch on how they visualize a person that embodies these traits. These sketches provide a concrete vision of the impressions formed by the characteristics shown to the participants. Each participant then will complete a personality trait checklist of bipolar adjectives in which they will be asked to choose the word that is most
It seems you had a lot of experiences about working as a group. That is the good thing for you because you had ability to adapt well for living with the others. It is not easy to get someone into your group and be able to get along with you very well. I have personal experience from different group's. Soccer, singing are some groups I have participated in too but,I enjoyed singing more because the group was small, and I like smaller groups. I enjoy study groups too but, I am more shy in bigger groups, so Soccer was challenging for me and I am also not good at any sports.
The vast majority of my results from this section of the Prentice Hall Self-Assessment Library (SAL) generally fall in line with how I view my personality. The fact
In order to learn more about my personality according to the Big Five, I completed a self- assessment geared towards explaining certain elements of individual personality. The results of this assessment were displayed in the IPIP-Neo Report and described brief descriptions of five different areas of the human personality. The general results
The Big five model displays five different personalities and the actions created from those personalities can either make a positive or negative impact in the community. The five personalities are Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Neuroticism, Openness to Experience and Extroversion. Each of these have both positive and negative outcomes depending on the situation. Conscientiousness is “a personality dimension describing people who are careful, dependable, and self-discipline” (38). Agreeableness comes in the category of “Courteous, good-natured, empathic, and caring” (37). Neuroticism Is “a personality dimension describing people with high levels of anxiety, Hostility, depression and self-consciousness” (38). Openness to experience is a personality trait which goes to a person who is “Imaginative, creative, curious, sensitive” (37). Extroversion “characterizes people who are outgoing, talkative, sociable and assertive” (38). When doing the exercise for the big five in week 3, my answers were different than expected. My Score for Conscientiousness is 69%, which means I set goals and pursue them with determination and people regard me as reliable and hard-working. For agreeableness, my score was 71%, which shows that I have a strong interest in others’
Several studies have shown significant agreement between self rated traits and rating of these traits by others, mostly if the traits lead to observable behavior. And between self rated traits and observed behavior in traits to relevant circumstances, if these external norms for the self rating are appropriately accumulated over the observers, time, or situations, explicitly; self rating of personality shows substantial validity for observable personality traits (Funder1999). Research shows that the defining feature of the
On the other hand, My peer group can be generally defined as my peers also involved in a higher education (especially from Snow College and BYU). In particular, the peers who have most inspired me to learn more. Through our daily conversations, we give each other insight to our
After I completed the short form on the website provided, a report was sent shown to me.). The report estimated an individual’s level on each and every one of the five broad personality domains/models. The models are as follows: (a) Neuroticism (b) Extraversion (c) Openness (d) Agreeableness (e) Conscientiousness. The Models are also further divided into six (6) facets each. This helped in explaining the criteria used in arriving at the results of the report. The explanations of the scores from the report are written below.
This week I participated in a individual class exercise for my communications class. The exercise was to find personality and identity traits about myself. First I will identify specific traits that were similar in three appraisals. Second I will discuss differences in appraisals. Finally, I will describe what accounts for differences and similarities, and what it illustrates about how well we know ourselves.
I must say that I do agree with the results of the test, but there are some aspects of it that I feel to be
After making the Person Perception test I have made discoveries on what people think about me, however, in general, they were not surprising, as I expected particular characteristics from certain people.
