My father always said, “Nothing is handed to you on a silver platter. You have to work for what you want.” From an early age, I was raised to stand for what I believed in, to work hard and to never give up. Eventually, this began the foundation of how my leadership began. When I think of leadership, I think of three skills I possess: responsibility, loyalty, and integrity. The next year, I entered high school. Throughout my time there, there were numerous conflicts between friends. Always, I made sure to stay loyal to my friends and to stand up for them while being there for them in a time of need. At the end of my high school career, I got my first job at the mall, and I was fortunate to have an amazing manager. Having a loyal personality, I switched stores in the mall when she did as well so I could stay under her management. While still working for her today, I have made sure to stay loyal to my friends and family. In return, they have done the same for me. Lastly, the last skill I have acquired over the years is integrity. In elementary school, I hopped the bandwagon and joined Girl Scouts. During my time as a Girl Scout, I learned a lot about being honest and truthful through the core values of the organization. This caused me to take a leadership role while in the eighth grade by coming head of the student council at the time. I had to make sure everyone was treated fair and the council ran to the best of its ability. Moreover, when I entered high school, I made sure to challenge myself to stay consistent and true with my beliefs. I did this by making sure to always choose the right choice and to stay true to myself. Currently, I have overcome the challenges that have occurred while growing up and have been consistent with my thoughts and beliefs.
