All of the choices we make are our choices, even if it’s our mood, success, fear, courage and most important happiness. Throughout the book there was always a reminder that in every situation there are always new choices ahead but we must be patient so the perfect opportunity can happen. In the book it quotes ““I am what I am today because of the choices I made yesterday” that person cannot say ‘I choose otherwise.”” (The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, page 72)

The first habit is to be proactive which in short terms means to take responsibility for your own personal life. You cannot blame your brother or sister for everything. While being proactive you come terms where you can’t blame others, or the conditions you’re under, or even the circumstances of the situation. The book also discussed the negative side of proactive which is reactive. A reactive person is someone affected by their physical environment. They are usually the ones who blame the problem on an outside source. Between the two you have the greatest power which is choosing which response you wish to follow. A proactive person will use everything positive towards them such as they will get the job done today or I can start my daily runs today. While a proactive person is absorbing the negative energy.
