George Washington is a leader that stands out above all the rest. He is the one of the greatest leaders in history. There are only few leaders that would have achieved the success he had during the American Revolution. Under his leadership and command, the poorly armed and also outnumbered continental army, was able to withstand many shortcomings and was still able to get a win. One notable achievement that can compare Washington to no other leader is the fact that he was instrumental in navigating the United States through its formative years. He turned down a number of opportunities for dictatorship, having a preference for civilian authorities in comparison to armed forces (Bongila, 2011).
