There were three mains reasons that caused the American Revolution. The three important reasons were Taxation without Representation, The Boston Tea Party and The 1st Continental Congress Meeting. Taxation without Representation is one of the reasons the American Revolution happened. The original phrase was “No taxation without Representation”. James Otis who was a lawyer in colonial Mass who thought that the phrase wasn't right so he changed it to “Taxation without Representation is Tyranny”. The British Parliament started taxing sugar in colonies in the sugar act. James Otis and other colonies didn’t agree to the sugar act and then started protesting. Things that were taxed were ships papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers and playing cards. The British Parliament also taxed the stamp act. The colonies wanted to make their own taxes. That is why Taxation without Representation is very important to causes that led to the American Revolution. Another one of the reasons that caused the American Revolution was The Boston Tea Party. The meeting started on September 5th and ended October 26th 1774. All of the colonies were involved except for Georgia because they didn’t show up. There was also the 56 delegates, George Washington, Patrick Henry, Samuel and John Adams. The meeting was held because they needed to discuss the British Intolerable acts. It was held in Philadelphia at the secret session in Carpenters Hall. The British won the war in 1763 and then the British Prime Minister controlled all the colonies, raising money and taxing. A couple of decisions that they made were to end Taxation without Representation, trade boycott with Great Britain and boycott British goods. The 1st Continental Congress Meeting was a very important event because it was the first time they were all meeting face to face to talk about the issues that we were having all
The American Revolution was not just a spontaneous revolt over taxes some may think . There were many things that led up to the outbreak of the American Revolution, such as the Navigation Act, the Enlightenment, the Great Awakening, the French and Indian War, the Boston Massacre, and the Coercive Acts. It took many years for it to take place. This all started previously before 1775 with the first major event being the Navigation Acts of 1651.
There was no one event that started the American Revolution. This paper will address the problems that lead to the start to the American Revolution. The colonists believed that they should live democratically. Britain felt that they owned the American colonies and they could use their resources in any way that they wished. The colonists did not want to live being ruled by another country. The major events that led to the American Revolution were the French and Indian War, Stamp Act, Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party and Lexington Concord.
The best explanation for the causes of the Revolution were “A Democratic Movement” written by Robert Brown. “A Democratic Movement” claims that the main cause of the American Revolution was to protect the liberties of the colonies that were there before the British
The causes of the American Revolution go back to the beginning of salutary neglect and the French and Indian War, as well as changes in the thinking of society. The effects of these events and other factors led to pressure within the colonies, ultimately resulting in rebellion.
There were multiple causes for the American Revolution, but the most important was the violation and deprivation of rights from the American People. The American people were faced with multiple acts and taxes that violated and took away their rights. Americans were continuously being taxed after the French and Indian War by acts like the sugar act, the stamp act, the Townshend acts, the tea act, and many more(Hedtke, et al., The American Saga). Despite all the taxes being placed on the Americans and the things they would buy, they still were not being represented in the British government. The British government claimed that the Americans had virtual representation, and that British parliament represents citizens of England anywhere they

In my opinion the Boston Tea party, The Intolerable Acts, and The Proclamation were the three main causes of the Revolutionary war. The Boston Tea Party and the Intolerable acts caused some friction but not the most. The main cause that started the war was the intolerable acts.
The American Revolution was a major declaration of freedom and individual rights that inspired similar revolutions world wide. The underlying causes of the American Revolution were deep seated. Some of the contributing factors were the changes in thinking brought about by the Enlightenment, the theory of Mercantilism, the French and Indian War, and England's inability to enforce it's laws.
The state governments did not like the king’s unfair taxes and rules so delegates were sent to Philadelphia to talk about the issues they had with the king’s rulings. This meeting led to the First Continental Congress, which urged the colonists to form militias and boycott British goods.
One of the causes of the revolution was that the American people didn't want Great Britian telling them what to do and how to live there lives, they wanted to be free independent people. They were also being treated very poorly like peasants. The American people also didn't have a voice they were not allowed to send their people to Parliament or vote for Britian's lawmakers. This angered the Americans which made them start to question Great Britians leadership. Another reason is after the "French and Indian war" Great Britian had a lot of war debt. Great Britian decided that since the war was fought in the colonies the American people should have to pay for it. So Great Britian started to make them pay harsh taxes this was done through the
There were many reasons that the American colonies decided to revolt against Great Britain, but some of the more major causes of the American revolution were ‘ the banning of arms ’, the very unpopular Stamp Act, the Declaratory Act, and the Boston Tea & Port Acts.
There were many causes that lead to the Revolutionary War. The Boston Tea party was one of the causes and a well known act of rebellion. The battles of Lexington and Concord, where the first shots of the war were fired. The raid on Fort Ticonderoga an intriguing encounter during the war, but yet another cause of the war. These are just three of the reasons that led to the war, let alone the many more there are.
The Boston massacre, tea problems and agitation, put the British in a bad place and were the three main reasons that eventually led to the American
There were a lot of issues that contributed to the revolution, but reading these articles, it showed me that the main reason for the revolution was that the colonies wanted their freedom from the British. They argued back and forth in order to gain the separation. They requested separation from the British, but it did
