The fourteenth to the sixteenth century was an incredible time to be in Europe. This marked the beginning of The Renaissance. The Renaissance started in Italy and spread to the rest of Europe. To understand how this spark of “rebirth” came about, it is important to know what was going on in history prior to this. The Black Death swept across Europe, a plague that severely damaged the European population. Political and economical instability were major conflicts that were tearing the continent apart. The Renaissance was exactly what Europe needed to get back on their feet. Science, literature, art, and politics were all brought back to life and amped up during this time period. Astronomy, physics, geography, and production are just a few of the subjects that were advanced during the Renaissance. The invention of the printing press by Johannes Gutenberg came about, which made intellect easier to spread and more common. This was one of the most important advancements as it paved the way. Leonardo Da Vinci contributed by creating machines that sawed marbles and raised monoliths. He studied and made advancements in anatomy and aerodynamics. Copernicus, a scientist, hypothesized that the earth revolves around the sun. This is called the heliocentric theory. Galileo Galilei made many important discoveries that we still use today. He was given the title the “Father of Science.” He is credited for inventing the thermoscope. Free fall, inertia, and projectile motion were common
