The responsibility of a health care professional is to promote the right and the choice of vulnerable people in the society. This is essentially promoting welfare and wellbeing of the vulnerable. Within this essay, the importance of the principles of care will show to be significant in ensuring an excellent standard of care. Issues linked with human and equality rights for vulnerable people will be looked at in connection to the importance of policy, legislations and regulation in health and social care codes of practice and standard and it will be explained why the legislation is crucial to shielding helpless individuals. Also, this essay will explain why risk assessments are essential in ensure a good quality of care. Today, we live in our society and are all protected by our rights in accordance with the law. We have a right to ‘life’, ‘liberty’ and ‘security’ (Human Rights Act, 1998) We feel safe knowing that our rights are ordinarily guaranteed and we are able to challenge others when we feel our rights have been intruded on. However, vulnerable people in care might have their rights put at risk. According to the Oxford Dictionaries (2016), care is ‘the provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of someone or something.’ In health and social care, we typically mean to say someone as we are caring for a person who is vulnerable.
