The individuals that agree with gun control often base their argument on the statistics of gun related deaths in the country, often times they do not state whether or not these include intentional or accidental deaths. Over the years the topic of gun control has turned out to be very polemic causing large debates, especially in the United States. A vast majority of people who are against gun control insist that is their right to own a gun mainly for self defense, while others who are for it, point out that it is not necessary to have access to certain guns like the military-style weapons therefore a ban should take place.

One of the main topics of debate is whether or not gun laws actually correspond with lower murder rates. “The average annual gun death rate ranged from almost 3 per 100,000 in Hawaii to 18 per 100,000 in Louisiana. Hawaii had 16 gun laws, and along with New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts was among states with the most laws and fewest deaths. What these numbers prove is that some gun regulations help lower death rates. However, what gun control activists would have you believe that a full on gun ban would lower these numbers more. Gun control has been a long debate to determine if it’s better to have stricter access to firearms. America is one of the few countries that has gun rights embedded in their constitution. But what makes the US exceptional is that it has the right to keep and bear arms, other countries do not provide the right to have access to them, but rather, the government is allowed to regulate its use. The right to bear arms has also been the cause of growing violence and crime, at least according to anti-gun lobbyists. Citizens should be aware the dangers and harm that guns present to society. Controlling the sale of firearms can greatly decrease the number of violent crimes.

The majority of anti-gun advocates voice their opinion that more guns would produce more crimes unfortunately for them there is little to no truth in that claim. It has been proven by many surveys that the banning of guns increases crime rate which in turn proves that gun control is not the answer.

Without a doubt on of the most morally debated topics currently within our society is the topic of gun control. Mass shooting has been running rampant within our communities and gun violence in the United States is at an all time high. At page value there should not be a debate on the topic. The easy solution is to legally restrict the ownership of guns from all citizens. However, the way our constitution was developed the people of the United States have the right to bear arms and the government cannot infringe on that right. Many believe that the removal of guns from private citizens would leave them vulnerable to those who do not follow laws. Gun violence in the United States is higher than ever, and criminals with guns will “…kill as many as 1000 people each day” (Alpers&Wilson). Taking this into perspective, it is only right to fight fire with fire or, in this case, use a gun to protect yourself and those around you. One important issue that has raised over the past two decades is the gun control debate, whether gun control is a real solution to decrease the violence in the country or not. While some groups defend that restricting the laws regarding to gun possession, will decrease the statistics of gun murders in the country, other groups pro-gun rights not only sustain these measures will not make any significant change on those numbers but also, these measures attempt to violate the second amendment which allows people the right to possess arms.

On every news channel in the nation, the current controversy is whether the citizens of the United States should be put under more gun control or have more freedom to carry. Political parties, courts, and individuals have different viewpoints on the matter as a whole, but they fail to mention a few aspects. All states should recognize concealed carry gun laws because of the citizens constitutional right, the safety benefits, and the financial benefits that firearms bring to the United States.

One major issue in the United States today is the freedom to bear arms. There are split beliefs on this issue. Some people are against people being permitted to have a firearm because guns kill people. Other people are for being permitted to have a firearm because guns do not kill people on their own. It is the person behind the gun pulling the trigger that kills a person. In this paper, I will discuss both sides of this huge, nationwide issue.
