The oral care category has been witnessing increasing sales over the past few years, especially in the battery-powered toothbrush segment. Between August 2001 and 2002, sales of power dental accessories in U.S. food, drug and mass outlets grew by 21.8% (Neff, 2002). There are many competitors in this industry including Colgate-Palmolive and Procter & Gamble. In May 2000, Colgate-Palmolive introduced the Colgate Actibrush with a retail price of $19.99 (Young, 2002). The sources listed in this report were primarily obtained from the databases provided by
Dalhousie University's library. The databases searched most frequently were ABI Inform Global as well as ABI Inform Trade & Industry. A few resources were found under the CBCA Fulltext Business database. Trade journals and magazines that were found to be most useful were Advertising Age, Business Week, Drug Store News and DSN Retailing Today.
Besides trade journals and magazines, this report also uses annual and shareholder's reports for information on the financial position of each company. Moreover, company websites were extremely helpful for recent company press releases and for product information. Finally, attempts to gain information from representatives of Colgate-Palmolive and Procter & Gamble (P&G) were unsuccessful and thus personal communication is not included in this report.
Lastly, Internet sites found by the Google search engine were also used. Key words/phrases searched under Google were: "market share power toothbrush," "Colgate power toothbrush", and "Procter and Gamble power toothbrush." One Internet site that was extremely helpful in researching this topic was AdAge.com.

The 1960s was a decade where many Americas found a new life and way of living, it was the time of the hippies, peace and love. It was also a time where many scientific and medical discoveries where made, these discoveries have improved our everyday lives up to the date. During the sixties technology advanced with satellites, video games, the Internet etc. and with these advances they have changed our life style. Without the advance of the internet imagine how we would be today, nowadays we use the internet for everything we do.
In the articles "Energy Story" and "Conducting Solutions", as well as the video, "Hands-On Science with Squishy Circuits", they all have similar purposes. The first article's purpose was to teach people how electricity and energy works. The second article informs people about how different solutions can create electric currents. In addition, the video's purpose was to persuade people to do hands on science with their children while teaching them how Play-Doh is a circuit. They all have different purposes, but they all have the same topic for their purposes, electricity.
Surveys indicate that 50% of people say that someone’s smile is the first thing they notice. I personally have always been insecure about my teeth because of the gap in the middle. So, I spent alot of my time worrying what other people thought about me, growing up you realize that you're not the only one who cares so much what others think. My plans after completing high school is attending Southern University Shreveport Louisiana (SUSLA) or Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) to become a dental hygienist. The entry level for this occupation is an associate’s degree and it takes up to three years to complete. A dental hygienist clean teeth, examine patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and provide dental care. I have already started working on the path to reach my future occupation by taking up a dental assisting class at the Caddo Career & Technology Center (CC&TC).
Dental Hygienists have many tasks that need to be done before they can be successful, such as getting their Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree, and commonly takes less than three years. The first hygienist was trained by dentists. The 1st school established for dental hygiene and the 1st state legalized the practice of dental hygiene in 1915. Dental nurses began to provide prophylaxis treatment as a method to prevent diseases in the 1880’s. Patient demands were high for esthetic services such as veneers and whitening products.Private offices address concerns over heightened latex sensitivity, and the more nonlatex products were more available. There are many different career paths and a variety of jobs for people to choose. Different people are suited for different jobs. After high school I want to further my education to become a dental hygienist. Dental hygienists clean teeth, examine patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and provide dental care. They also educate patients on ways to improve and maintain good oral health. I believe I would be a perfect for this job. I enjoy helping others and I care very much about my health. I get to do a job (hopefully in the future) where I can learn about the human mouth, how to treat the patients, and also educate patients on proper oral care and technique’s.

I think that Lincoln Electric (LE) should definitely has a production facility in India because of its growth and foreseen opportunities, but if I were LE I would suggest to enter with a local partner in order to gain knowledge and experience in how the country operates in terms of bureaucracy, labor, culture and so on.
