We are in the 21st century, but is racism still a problem?

Professor Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, chair of Duke University’s sociology department says we are facing the diversity blues.

Before a panel discussion of racism in the university, Bonnilla-Silva gave a presentation on why he thinks racism still exists on college campuses.

“Why are we facing the diversity blues, years after so-called integration?” Bonnilla-Silva asked. “The truth is we just opened the doors for a few people of color, but we call that integration.”

Bonnilla-Silva insisted that there is still racism in the University.

“Everybody’s for diversity, but no one is willing to do jack for it,” Bonnilla-Silva said. “So change from diversity as a theology and adopt a deep diversity
