The suspenseful book Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCalailo takes about one caring girl named Opal, found a innocent dog running around in the ruins in the supermarket Winn-Dixie. SHe takes the lovely dog home to take care of him. Will this turn out as it sounds like or will it be has hard has it sounds like. Opal was in a grocery store looking for ingredients for making her own pasta, when all of a sudden the grocery store manager was running around saying “Somebody help,stop the dog!” For a few seconds Opal saw no dog. Then, a dull ugly looking dog was running all over the place knocking over onions, tomatoes, and asparagus. It kind of looked like he had no owner and when his dad told about some things needed serious help we should help them. When they got to her dad he said that they are no dogs in the house and you know that too! Opal kept on trying to make her dad let her keep the dog. After the whole argument was over her dad let out a big sigh and said “Fine you can keep the dog.” Without thinking for a split second Opal got Winn-Dixie went to the bathroom and started to make the dog get a shower, brush his teeth with her own toothbrush! After a few days since her dad was a preacher she had to go to church with him and every time they left Winn-Dixie outside the church he would keep on barking and so her dad said that bring the dog in and when they did… The dog sit and behaved the whole time. When Opal went to the library regularly, she was new to the town and lost her mother when she was only like 2 years old. So she needed to make new friends and when she was thinking about that the town’s big bullies arrived and Opal said quickly “You guys are bald headed cry babies!” Then, quickly ran to the library with her dog
