Whether you call it true love or a case of Stockholm Syndrome, one thing you can’t deny is Harley Quinn and the Joker have one of the most complex and complicated romantic relationship portrayed in the comic industry. Their relationship is so intertwined writers have stated that it’s hard to write Harley without the Joker, but not the other way around. You can’t have Harley without the Joker, but Joker without Harley is a common occurrence. It is like that relationship, whether viewed as an abusive-stockholmesk relationship or a consensual-sadomasochist relationship (which is to the discretion of the reader); it is what has defined her character for years. Until, July of this year the DC universe answered the longstanding question: “Is Harley
Is having an alien power the only classification of being a superhero? If you don’t fall into a bucket of radioactive waste can you still be called super? There are many “normal” human people that have taken on the role of a superhero and thus have been deemed fit for the title. Of course they aren’t really normal at all, because they all have those defining attributes to them that characterize them into the “hero” category; such as courage, strength, intelligence, loyalty, etc,. Both Batman and the Scarlet Pimpernel are examples of normal human beings who have taken on the role of a superhero in the eyes of their society. Although they both have qualities that tie them to the name of a superhero, being the humans that they are, make them so very different from each other.
John Paul Jones Impact on U.S. History Brennan Baker John Paul Jones, or some may know him as “The Father of the American Navy”, is considered a remarkable figure when it comes to United States history. Although he often had an eye for ladies, stylish appearance, pirate style approach to situations, and extremely short temper, he will forever be remembered for his remarkable ambition for adventures on the sea and ability to take on any challenge presented to him. John Paul Jones' early life easily set the stage for his future work and career. Jones impacted United States history by introducing naval war tactics, achieving several victories on the sea, and setting the stage for the determination and patriotism shown by American
In today’s time and age, I don’t think we will come across anyone, who is oblivious of the legendary pair of a hero and a villain; batman and the joker. Those who haven’t read the comics, must have watched at least a few of the movies that are based on these characters. Batman is seen as the hero. The joker is seen as a villain. There are a lot of variations in the stories involving these two as it has been incarnated a lot times, but their characters remain the same. The relationship between these two is a representation of “yin-and-yang”.
After Joker reconnects with Cowboy, the platoon is sent to secure an area in enemy control. A battle proceeds with casualties on both sides. Once the area is secured, the members of the platoon are interviewed. Many of the members express their discontent with the South Vietnamese. The South Vietnamese people do not respect Americans. In Cowboy’s interview, he says, “I keep meeting them coming the other way”, which refers that the South Vietnamese retreat while the Americans are fighting. Animal Mother says, “We’re shooting the wrong gooks”, in which he thinks they should be fighting the South Vietnamese.
In the exposition “Should Batman Kill the Joker?, ” Mark D. White and Robert Arp bring up the idea that certain situations within pop culture can be comparable to real-world problems. Moreover, the writers prove this idea by analyzing whether batman should kill the joker or not, and then compared the arguments of this analysis to reasoning that can be given to the debate of whether Americans should use torture against terrorists or not. Although I agree with the writers’ idea that comparing pop culture to real life could bring useful insight for real-world problems, I feel that others may disagree with my point of view since pop culture cannot always translate well to real-life. As a result, it is important to point out that the writers stated
Many assume that to get from one point to another, similar paths are typically taken. Both the Joker from the Dark Knight and the Islamic state bring chaos into the world with the intention to ultimately cleanse the world of its sinners and uncover what they believe the truth of humanity is. Yet the Joker, however, believes he unveils the truth while ISIS believes they exterminate the lies. Circumstances such as these are similar in its root while opposite in its execution.
Law in the middle Ages was ambiguous, oaths, ordeals and ‘Judgments of God’ were considered to be equivalent to law. There was no formal hierarchy of courts or assemblies, disputes were often settled by collective judgement lead by a group of men from the highest status in the community. The legal disputes in both sources reflect the unprofessional law in medieval Europe.

DC Comics once accidentally gave us one of the most diverse characters in the history of comics, a strong woman of color who happens to be a lesbian. I’m sure everyone remembers Batman The Animated Series. It stands as arguably one of the best cartoons ever aired with solid plot lines that weren’t so dumbed down for five year olds that adults found them annoying (I’m looking at you Teen Titans Go). One of the new characters created just for the animated series was Officer Renee Montoya, the young idealistic partner of the cranky veteran Harvey Bullock. The character was an instant hit and soon made her debut as one of Gotham’s finest in Batman. Promoted to Homicide Detective in Batman #475 by Commissioner James Gordon, she was once again partnered
There is no character who is really like no other in the world of comic book villains, and that character is the Joker. Which would be hard for a person to actually find a character who is deep and this disturbed in the world of comic book villains? The mind that originated him, Jerry Robinson, must have been a very twisted person, undoubtedly. The Joker represents a theory about existence that part of me believes that all people wish we could embrace in our own way. He is an outrageous character, the stuff he does to other people is the lowest of the lows. The Joker is also a fascinating character, with an interesting world view, which is why he is my favorite villain. He has so many characteristics that make him even more interesting, like his history, his character, and how is he portrayed.
“Jim Gordon is busy at the moment, if this is an emergency please hang up and dial 911.” The woman responded with a firm tone.
For any market to achieve success, said market must define, create and outline some measure of happiness for its consumers. A solid awareness and knowledge of what makes a consumer satisfied will generally lead to successful business for any specific market. However, if a particular market of an economy attempts to define happiness for its consumers, don’t they have an obligation to accurately appeal to their targeted audience? Does the cost to a consumer’s morals and ideals matter? What’s the cost for that?
“Dark Knight” was a smash hit for it’s fame, explosions, and chase scenes, but what really had me on the edge of my seat was perhaps the most riveting villain I had ever seen. The Joker. The Joker is a mob-backed terrorist with suicidal tendencies and According to the DSM, the joker would be given the diagnoses of Antisocial personality disorder. He is not reasonable, he’s not afraid of anything, and the last thing he cares about in the world is himself. As Alfred explained to Bruce, “Some men just want to watch the world burn
Morality is a recurrent motivational theme in Christopher’s Nolan version of the hero. According to many of the Joker’s action, he clearly acts upon immorality as opposed to its contrary. However, how can Batman’s actions be viewed? He is, like the villain, highly skilled in what he does, but still is an outlaw. Although one is an agent of chaos and the other of justice, the joker can be seen as a logical response to Batman. Alfred made a similar point arguing that in desperation of the justice-maker criminals turned to someone that they didn’t fully understand. Although Batman is viewed on the positive side, to which extent can individual break the law to follow his own justice. Through these various interactions of morality interplay, the
