There have always been leaders who are effective and get the job done, but that does not necessarily mean that they were “good” leaders. To be a good leader means that not only does one have to be effective but also be able to go above and beyond just simply reaching the goal in mind. A good leader sets to make an impact in many different people’s lives. A good example of the difference between an effective leader and a good leader would be Ron and Deborah Hall in The Same Kind of Different as Me. In the memoir Deborah Hall is the “good” leader while Ron Hall is the “effective” leader. Deborah went through great lengths to help and inspire people she did not even know. She led her husband, Ron, to go to The Union Gospel Mission and guided
Rev. Cooper is a leader because she possesses several qualities that separate her from most people. A few of those are honesty, communication skills, confidence, and the ability to inspire. Rev. Cooper was a born leader to go forth into making a difference in other people’s lives. What I like the most about her is that she teaches about life. When it comes to “honesty”, she is never one to sugar coat anything that needs to be said. She likes to “keep it real” with you, so that when you hear the truth, you understand and recognize it. Rev. Cooper shows and teaches her students how to get and give information, with the information you gather you
Before defining an individual as a great leader, one must first understand the definition of leadership and the qualities that make a leader. According to businessdictionary.com, “leadership involves establishing a clear vision, sharing that vision with others so that they will follow willingly, providing the information, knowledge and methods to realize that vision, and coordinating and balancing the conflicting interests of all members and stakeholders.” The website goes on to say that “a leader is the one who steps up in times of crisis, and is able to think and act creatively in difficult situations. Unlike management, leadership cannot be taught, although it may be learned and enhanced through coaching or mentoring” (Leadership).
Why do we hear so much about the bad leaders, but so little about the good ones? That’s because none of our leaders are perfect, but what makes a good leader? A good leader is someone who is honest, decisive under pressure, and can give confidence in times of distress. Many leaders in our world, or in fictional worlds, show that these qualities prove most important.
“People ask the difference between a leader and a boss. The leader leads and the boss drives”- Theodore Roosevelt. What does it mean to be a leader? What defines a good leader? History has taught us many things about leadership. Good Leadership can be the difference between winning a war and losing a war. Even in everyday life, a good leader is capable of achieving much greater things than a normal person. But leadership is a powerful tool that can be used both for the good of mankind and its downfall.
Great leaders generally have to lead more than one person. They have a group or team that needs to collaborate and cooperate in order to get the work done, and this means that the leader needs to be adept at
A good leader is someone who has an effective work style and is willing to invest their time with the employees. A leader makes sure the needs of an employee are met, and makes it a priority to offers the right resource to the employees. When it comes to a selecting a person who I would define as a leader became a little challenging to choose for the reason being I have two leaders I admire and look up to. These two leaders emigrated from Mexico and when first arriving in the United States they started working in agricultural. Working in agricultural is a tough job to do and when recently arriving and not having family to help with the little ons just made it that much harder to work.
My mother always told me, ‘When the going gets tough, the tough get going.’ When times get rough it is important to not waste time sitting in self-pity, instead you need to take charge and change things for the better. I believe that being a good leader does not wait around just hoping, instead they make things happen. There are many elements that I believe make a good leader, but just being genuine and passionate towards a cause is what I believe is most important.
I believe that to be a good leader doesn’t necessarily define as someone who sets a goal and directs people to achieve it, but as someone who may have to adapt to change based off their surroundings and situations. A leader should be someone who is able to guide with not only direction but also logic, understanding, and an open mind. Oskar Schindler proved with continued leadership that even the most dismal situations may be able to change your values and based off those values change your actions and the direction in which you choose to lead and how you influence.
For many years, I have been told by teachers, family, and friends that I am a good leader. Until fairly recently, I had never truly thought about what it means to be a good leader and just took it as a compliment. Leadership is an intangible concept which cannot be properly outlined in a dictionary, but one which must be formed and explained only through one’s own philosophies and experiences.
I understand being a good or even great leader takes a great amount of hard work and dedication. No matter where I am or what I am doing, I push myself to the limit and do what needs to be done; sometimes even more. I strive to be the best in all I do. I want to become a good leader like my father. I want to be able to handle even the most difficult situations in the most calm and confident manner.
There is a difference between a good leader and an effective leader, both having a different meaning. A good leader brings peace and leads people the way they want. Effective leaders bring change to the their country whether it be positive or not. Joseph Stalin brought change to the USSR in their industries, making him an effective leader. In 1928 Stalin gave a speech to motivate his people and explained his goals for the country in the Five Year Plans.
My idea of leadership is being able to inspire others, motivate, set a vision, communicate, respect others, and of course, lead by example. A leader must have an honest understanding of who they are, what they know, and what they are capable of. To be a successful leader, you have to be able to convince your followers, not just yourself or your superiors, that you are worthy of being followed. In my opinion, this can build confidence in their followers to have faith in you, in order to be able to lead. I strongly believe that good leaders are made rather, and not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders are developed through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and
Being a good leader is done by making the correct choices and inspiring people to complete their tasks and work together as a team. In order to be a great leader you need to think outside the box and travel the road that is seldom or never traveled. A great leader will use their inspiration and determination to complete the tasks no matter what hurdles or problems they
American author, John C. Maxwell once said, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” Not everyone is made to be a good leader and there is evidence of that, some people are good leaders but are not leading for the common good or the wrong reason and there are some people that good leaders and that lead people towards the common good. What is the makeup of a good leader? Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. Ralph in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies would have been the best leader because he believes the boys can be ruled by reason, he thinks about safely and long-term survival and he shows a quality of responsibility.
I believe good leaders have the desire and willpower to become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience. I think one of a leaders’ main goals should be to inspire their workers into higher levels of teamwork, which can be acquired through continual work and study. Good leaders should constantly be working and studying to improve their leadership skills. Leadership is defined as a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent. Leaders carry out this process by applying their leadership attributes, such as beliefs, values, ethics, character, knowledge, and
