The San Diego Rescue Mission The San Diego Rescue Mission, 55-years-old, is an original and inspirational organization that involves itself with dealing with the homeless population. It partners with more than 100 local churches every year and the services it provides are numerous. These include: Surveying potential needs and seeing how well current needs are met Providing therapeutic counseling. The Outpatient Therapy Clinic that "free, quality counseling to individuals, families, children and couples who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or unable to afford therapy" ( HYPERLINK "http://www.sdrescue.org/our-programs/mental-health-counseling/" http://www.sdrescue.org/our-programs/mental-health-counseling/). All counselors are licensed Marriage and Family Therapists. Establishing residential homes to house homeless individuals Establishing a Women and Children's Center that includes practical life skills such as vocational training and educational classes. Otherwise known as Nueva Vida Haven, this emergency shelter for women and children (under the age of 16) provides not only a secure place to sleep, but also cooked meals, clothing, toiletries, and showers.
