When we had first arrived at the church, I found it was in an odd location. The building connects with a Crossfit gym, that is between two other buildings. As we entered an old man held the door for the three of us and welcomed us. We walked in, having two other gentlemen welcoming us and referring to us as ladies. The room was a lot smaller than I had expected. There was around twenty people at the meeting. We sat in the fifth or sixth row. The front of the room is where the pulpit stood, which is where the pastor taught. There was also a table with the word “Remember” engraved in it. On the table sat two plates for money donations. A church had agreed to lets us live in their church for three days. The church was beautiful. It was a large, looming, castle like, church that on it’s own would have seemed huge. But it wasn’t on it’s own. It was right in the middle of the city, right next to a bunch of skyscrapers, which is a shame because it muffles the awesomeness of the church. The church looks old from the exterior but the inside proves just how new it is. It has three stories, and a basement. It has mounted tvs everywhere, and two full elevators. My other summer reading book was a fiction novel by Nancy Farmer called "The House of Scorpions". I choose this book based on a recommendation from a friend. I also choose this book because science-fiction is one of my favorite genres. I was overall pleased with this book and glad I gave it a shot. I read this books every night, just before I went to bed for about a week and a half. I would recommend this book to my classmates because it's an exciting but thought-provoking book. The book made me rethink topics of soul, identity, who we give power to, and human rights. The book was was well-paced with a great plot line.

Adversity hit me at an early age. I was a shifter in my own happy realm, living a normal life. I was happy, though I didn’t show it. I wasn’t one to show emotions that often, but it doesn’t matter. I had a family and friends. I have a loving mother, a supportive father, and an amazingly perfect older brother. It was a nice time, until humans found a way in. To this day I don’t understand how they got there, but they did. They took everything I knew and they killed everybody, without so much as a second thought. The burned houses, people, even offerings we tried to give them to let us go. They ruined my life, all my memories. They ruined what I had called my home, my life, for so many years and they just left me there to wonder what we ever did to them to cause such hatred towards us. “This is Spartan 117, can anyone hear me over” Master Chief says to Lord Hood. Lord Hood responds, “Isolate that signal. Master Chief, you mind telling me what you are doing on that ship?” Master Chief then says “Sir, finishing this fight”. The iconic series of the Halo Universe is a franchise that is looked at as the pinnacle of the competitive multiplayer system. On top of that, it also has a really good story while still making the protagonist you are playing as feel like a total badass. Bungie studios, who were originally partnered with Take-Two Interactive studios, which developed the top-down actioner Grand Theft Auto series, created this masterpiece of a game in the late 1990s, after numerous trial and errors of what they wanted to do. The original Halo game was supposed to be released for the Macintosh OS X but after a presentation showcasing the game, the event was so good that it caught the eyes of Microsoft Studios. Impressed, Microsoft then decided to invest in Bungie studios and buy them out to create the series and bring it over to the PC, even though it instead made its way to the iconic Xbox system. The protagonist you play is a Spartan named John 117, best known as Master Chief, and is known as one of the most iconic protagonists in any video game ever. The Halo universe the user plays in takes place in the future, the first game Halo: Combat Evolved, taking place in the twenty-sixth century. Donald Trump: American billionaire, businessman, television producer and the Republican Party nominee for President of the United States who speaks the phrase “Make America great again” We hear his slogan during presidential debates, campaign rallies, and on social media; but what does Trump actually mean by this phrase? When was the golden period in American history and do we want to relive back to that point in time?

The year is 1984 and Darryl Hunt has just been sentenced a life in prison for the alleged rape and slaughter of Deborah Sykes. In 2004, he was set free after nearly 20 years behind bars because he was wrongly convicted based off false eye witness testimonies given during the trial (Blau, 2016). There was no physical evidence that connected him to the crime, yet, but based on the eye witness testimonies he was sentenced to a life behind bars for a crime he never committed. A somewhat similar scenario plays out in the film 12 Angry Men, when a jury is forced to deliberate on a life or death sentence for a boy who allegedly killed his own father. While this case has the evidence stacked against the accused boy, a lone member of the jury is not convinced and takes it upon himself to play devil’s advocate on behalf of the boy in the hopes of saving him from certain death. This becomes a high stakes battle of wits, when the juror meets opposition from the eleven other members of the jury, and is forced to bring the other jurors in opposition of the prosecution’s case against the boy.

Evil is a term that we’ve heard since childhood, whether it be a movie’s villain or the antagonist in a novel. The use of this term is often used in writing and storytelling when teaching about morals and ethics to an audience. Evil has been written about since the beginning of time; at the creation of woman and man. God created the Snake to trick Eve into eating the forbidden fruit from the tree. Generally, the antagonist’s name usually has the term evil in it, so the audience can infer their role in the story.

The game Destiny is a First Person Roleplaying game that takes place in the future where humans are at the age of extinction due to a long war fought against three alien races named the Vex, Fallen, and Hive. The war ends wielding no victor and heavy casualties on the human side as they are forced to reside in what the game calls “The Last City”. This game is set up to be a thrilling game, but upon playing the game it is found that the game is much undeveloped. The game has little to no story, a very unbalanced multiplayer, a broken loot system, a time consuming leveling up system, and is very repetitive.

The Mortal Instruments is about angels ,demons,werewolves,and vampires and more.A thousand years ago the angel raziel shared his blood with mortals to make human angel hybrids and they called themselves shadow hunters. A vampire is made when another vampire bites them.A werewolf is made when another were wolf bites or scratches them.A demon comes from the depths of hell were a devil rules.The point of a shadow hunter is to remain the peace between the mythical creatures, like police. ​The family that I was staying with owns a storage unit in the next building over to store their overflow from there antique booth in the building next door. Demonic weaponry surrounded us as we entered the elevator, increasing every level we climbed towards the fourth floor. We lifted the creaky wooden door of the freight elevator - made our way down an unfinished hallway toward the unit - inserted the key - flipped the lock - we were in the room. I attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville which I study Criminal Justice. I am planning on getting my Master’s Degree in Social Work. I have a passion to help people, especially children/youth. I noticed that I wanted to provide counseling and be looked at as a mentor to youth back in high school. I volunteered at Chicago Youth Center (CYC) in Chicago, IL.

It goes without saying that everyone on earth has at least one sanctuary. For some, this place is high up in the branches of a tree, where they can touch the sky with outstretched fingertips and feign a lack of attachment to the busy world lying below. For others, this sacred place might be found in a place as close and accessible as a cubbyhole in their own home. For others still, it might be in a library, or on a quiet mountaintop, the hard pews of a church building, or even a person. I myself have found my haven to be far away and, for now, out of my reach, in a city called Wilmington in North Carolina. It is the seventh or eighth largest city in the state, but the downtown area isn’t too busy to relax and breathe in the fresh air drifting from the beach only a few miles away. It is peaceful and serene, but still bustling with just the right amount of life and activity to be always uplifting, and flawless in its own way.
