The idea of securing the nation’s borders and securing the safety of the citizens has been a major topic since the beginning of the nation’s existence. There have always been means and procedures for it but it was never defined to the point it is today. The Homeland Security Department is a fairly new program which is constantly improving and adjusting in accordance to the threats that may arise. In the attempt to secure the United States, homeland security has become paramount and a lot of emphasis is being provided so as to ensure the safety of the borders and the citizens of the United States. So one must ponder what the difference between homeland security and homeland defense are since they both tend to mean the same
Although the president has the responsibility to keep the nation and its citizens safe, there is a moral limit to the actions that he or she can take. The government’s duty is to protect America, fairly serve and represent the people, carry out orders or laws to develop the country, and allow their citizens to thrive with freedom. While carrying out these tasks, the government should not treat anyone with discrimination or injustice, like FDR did to the Japanese in the 1940s. After Japan attacked on Pearl Harbor in 1941, America began to fear the Japanese people currently residing in the United States since they believed that they posed a threat to them, simply because they were Japanese. In his Executive order to the Japanese-Americans, FDR
There are many different similarities and differences between the four levels of law enforcement. The four different levels are Federal, State, County, and Municipal/City. I will be talking about the level of Federal and Municipal/City. A federal law enforcement agency is an organizational unit, or subunit, of the federal government with the principle functions of prevention, detection, and investigation of crime and the apprehension of alleged offenders (www.bjs.gov).
The Operations Superintendent would have OPCON and TACON as well. Making small changes to how we operate as an organization to become more effective in daily operations would be TACON. The flight chief is the best example of TACON as they run the flight who is conducting the daily operations. They are told to conduct guardmount, but they are not told in what order they conduct their briefings or what type of information needs to be briefed every day. They also assign who gets posted at each location for the day. OPCON would be the post priority chart that tells the flight chief which posts are the most important and require the most manpower. TACON is used when the flight chief decided who will work the most important post and who will work the gates. Below is a flow chart to help you understand how OPCON and TACON blend together (Figure 1-1). ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL (ADCON) Administrative Control is the direction or exercise of authority over subordinate or other organizations in respect to administration and support, including organization of Service forces, control of resources and equipment, personnel management, unit logistics, individual and unit training, readiness, mobilization, demobilization, discipline, and other matters not included in the operational missions of the subordinate or other organizations. ADCON is mostly the responsibility of the Service Chiefs and Secretaries. However, some functional areas can also utilize ADCON. CONCLUSION Understanding
At the end of 2000, Andrés Manuel López Obrador was elected as mayor of Mexico City. During this period, a massive crime rate was wide spreading in the city. The national capital’s general crime rate from 1995 to1998 had almost tripled. López Obrador was aware that getting back the streets from lawbreakers would need a new methodology; therefore, he brought in Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón, a proficient political leader, to lead the Federal District’s Public Security. Jointly they established new techniques that could record, map, and examine crime and bring about better preventive policing plans and more-effective allocation of police resources. Additionally, Ebrard appointed a panel to build a neighborhood police program, which will
Tom... In an off-handed way, you've fittingly pointed out what this country idealistically stands for as to our underlying egalitarian political theory of periodically changing provisional caretakers of our government through peaceful public elections. Over the last two centuries, our remarkable constitution - with its time-tested democratic ideals and republic principles - has survived only because of its practicality, effective functionality, and most of all, by the sustained support of American citizen patriots - from all walks of life - in safeguarding and respecting its inherent significance and true spirit. Moreover, and considering the fact that it is the first national written constitution, our American Constitution further served as a model for other neighboring nations in drafting their own new constitutions, especially many Southern America countries in the
It was established by Abraham Lincoln on the same day he was assassinated, the Secret Service has only been working at presidential inaugurations since 1885. For the current today everything is still the same, except you they are really taking their jobs serious than they did before. Some of the general duties as a S.S.A are presidential protection like vice presidents and other high rank government officials. They are also charged with the task of protecting the president's and vice president's immediate family. (Unless the couple has

The attacks on American soil that solemn day of September 11, 2001, ignited a quarrel that the grade of singular privacy, need not be given away in the hunt of grander security. The security measures in place were planned to protect our democracy and its liberties yet, they are merely eroding the very existence with the start of a socialistic paradigm. Benjamin Franklin (1759), warned more than two centuries ago: “they that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Implementing security measures comes at a cost both economically and socially. Government bureaucrats can and will utilize information for personal political objectives. The Supreme Court is the final arbitrator
