The terrorist attacks of September 11, altered American 's perceptions of the role in the world by strongly supporting the increased spending on national security and counterterrorism. Also, Americans have become more aware of how and where to engage in the world. As a result of the attacks, the US now has a defense that totals to nearly half the global total and has military dominance over scene, air, and space. The US also has the capability to dispatch massive military power anywhere in the world making them the system shaper. The war in Afghanistan started was a direct response to the 9/11 attacks. This deadly terrorist acts killed thousands of American citizens. After the attack president bush made it clear that whoever is responsible for this horrendous act of violence will pay and will be brought to justice. After the American intelligence agencies found that Al- Qaeda was responsible for the 9/11 attacks president bush gave the Taliban leaders in Afghanistan an ultimatum for harboring al-Qaeda and their leader which says hand over the terrorist that are responsible for the attacks or share their fate. The Taliban leadership requested the American government to provide any avoidance proving that Osama bin-Laden was behind the 9/11 attacks before they hand him over to the American government. The Bush administration said that the Taliban should hand over Osama bin-laden without any conditions or suffer the same consequences as Al-Qaeda. Less than a month after the 9/11 attacks the war began. The war in Afghanistan was going on for more than a decade and there is no end in sight. The war costs the U.S more than a trillion dollars which is having a negative effect on the economy, with all the money and resources that were poured into Afghanistan, the lives people in Afghanistan didn’t improve instead it only got worse.
The tragic events of September 11, 2001 highlighted the vulnerability to terrorist attacks. The importance of critical infrastructures to the government, people, and organization can be dependent on the vulnerability towards a national disasters, manmade hazards, and terrorist attack. Contemporary standard of what constitutes critical infrastructures has evolved as a wide array of threats has increased in modern times. Critical infrastructures represent aspects of the economy that makes the nation function as a whole and protecting America’s critical infrastructures and key assets presents an enormous challenge to the Department of Homeland Security.
PTSD was originally conceptualized as a disorder of combat veterans. Unfortunately, societies all over the world are being more and more exposed to war and its effects due to the increase of worldwide terrorism. The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 (9/11), exemplified a blend of extreme violence and man-made disaster previously confined to the battlefield. For American’s terrorism was a new phenomena that brought the atrocities of war to American cities. It is estimated that over 100,000 people directly witnessed the events of that day, millions more around the world were exposed to horrifying scenes through the media (Perlman, et. al., 2011). The attacks were followed by the continued threat of ensuing attack and the prospect of a global war. Based on data obtained after the 1995 bombing of the Federal Building in Oklahoma City, previously the deadliest act of terrorism in America, it was predicted that in approximately 35 percent of those directly exposed to the 9/11 would develop PTSD (Perlman, et. al., 2011).
At this moment, everybody there and around the world knew this was a terrorist attack. With both towers stuck by jets and both on fire, the FAA better known as the Federal Aviation Administration shut down all New York City area airports to prevent anything else from happening. The city also shut off all of its bridges and tunnels so that nobody would be able to get in or leave. At 9:43 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon, creating a huge cloud of smoke and immediate evacuation from the building. At this moment in time people of the United States began to question exactly how many of these plans are coming and what they are going to hit. At 10:05 a.m., the south tower of the World Trade Center begins to collapse, falling straight down into the streets of New York City. A huge mass of dust and debris from the tower slowly drifts away from the building. Minutes after that, a portion of the Pentagon collapses, then around 10:10 a.m., United Airlines Flight 93, another hijacked passenger jet, crashes in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, close to Pittsburg. Around 18 minutes later, the north tower of the World Trade Center also falls to the ground, creating another big cloud of smoke and debris. The aftermath of this terrible attack affected people and their communities nationwide. It took many years to rebuild the destroyed parts of New York City.
The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 affected American perspectives on many issues, including immigration. A total of 20 foreign terrorists were involved, 19 of whom took part in the attacks that caused the deaths of 2,977 victims, most of them civilians. The terrorists had entered the United States on tourist or student visas. Four of them, however, had violated the terms of their visas. The attack exposed long-standing weaknesses in the U.S. immigration system that included failures in the areas of visa processing, internal enforcement, and information sharing.[8]
The two terrorist attacks that I will examine are the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center that took place on February 26, 1993 and The Boston Marathon Bombing took place on April 15. 2013. I will also be providing an overview of the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center and the Boston Marathon Bombing. I will explain the lessons learned from each attack in my own opinion. I will also describe what protective measures were taken during the attacks to prevent further casualties and injuries.

On September 11th, 2001, The US experienced the worst terrorist attack ever planned and executed on our country’s soil. The attacks affected all Americans who watched and were victims of the horrifying event. Our airport security definitely evolved in many ways, along with everyday lives of the citizens in our country. One of the tons of people to watch the attack as it happened was my mother.
Al-Qaeda is credited for the attacks of September 11th 2001, but before this tragedy there were 7 previous attacks that Al-Qaeda was credited for as well. Al-Qaeda’s first known terrorist attack occurred on December 29th 1992 in Aden, Yemen at the Gold Muhor Hotel. This bomb was detonated where United States troops where on route to Somalia. This attack didn’t kill any American tourists, but 2 Australian tourists lost their lives. This next one is known very well and it’s Al-Qaeda’s second terrorist attack, but their first on the United States. This attacks occurred on February 23rd 1993 in Manhattan, New York, in the basement of the Marriott Hotel which was building 3 in the World Trade Center. This attack injured 1000 people and killed 6
