The sequence and rate of each aspect of development from birth to 19 years can be broken down into 4 areas such as: Physical development, intellectual development, communication development, social, emotional and behavioral development: 0-3 months Babies can start to grasp things in their hands and are able to feed for e.g. by latching onto the motherâ€TMs breast they can suckle. The colors can be recognized. Babies start to look at the environment. Recognize parents and enjoy repetitive activities. Babies have no any verbal language at this age, babyâ€TMs starts to bond through attachment and skin to skin contact via feeding. They form a strong attachment with parentâ€TMs/carers. Tantrums may also start in babies. Physical development, intellectual development, communication development, social, emotional and behavioral development: 3-9 months This period is fast. There movements depends on the reflexes for e.g. sucking, grasping. At this stage babies have limited control of their bodies. The period of grasping certain colors and familiar noises and shape will be developing. The attachment and recognition with parents and siblings is stronger. Young babies start to form bonds of attachment with parents/carers. They can start to play with others. In the first year they gradually learn to support their heads and sit up with support.
