The Similarities Between The Movie And The Book

In Lyddie by Katherine Paterson and Lyddie the movie, both have similar same plot lines but with slightly different plots. Some People, such as Diana, have different ways to leave the main story; other characters like Triphena are outright gone, and a few characters never fully develop a complete personality.

On the west side of Manhattan two groups compete for turf, the Jets, a group of white juveniles, and the Sharks, a group of young Puerto Rican men. The conflicts that arise from racial and cultural differences are what lead to West Side Story’s message. The Jets do not like the Sharks because they came from a different part of the world. They don’t want them in their neighborhood because they are worried that they will change things, take their jobs, and make the neighborhood dirty. People have always and still have this fear for immigrants because they can’t accept change. When Tony and Maria fall in love, it makes the two gangs’ rivalry even more complicated.

Is the novel making the same point about the value or ideas as the film? If so, how? If it is making a different point about the value or idea, how is it different?

The book tells the same story as the movie but in a different way it cuts out thing the movies has or the movies adds thing that's not in the book. The book has some not many similar but . I feel the director was unfaithful to the book.The book and movie version of Our America had many differences.

To Kill a Mockingbird has been documented as one of the greatest novels of all time. This novel was then turned into a movie; the director had all the challenges of making a movie out of this loved novel. It is very difficult to make a film be so similar to a novel. I believe Robert Mulligan did a good job keeping the film as close as possible to the novel. While there were many differences and similarities from the film and novel Robert Mulligan was able to keep the reality of racism many people went thru in the 1930’s.

When a book is taken in by a movie company to be turned into a movie, some things are going to change or get cut out so that it meets certain requirements. The novel To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee is certainly not an exception. When Universal Productions chose to make the popular novel into a movie, the director and screenwriters had to make some important choices as to what they kept in and what they didn’t. There are many differences when you compare the two versions of To Kill a Mockingbird, but some that stood out are; the narrator of the movie is an Adult Scout looking back, the school appeared to be nicer in the movie, Aunt Alexandra isn’t mentioned in the movie at all, Scout isn’t shown when she is in class and there is more than one focus character. No movie is exactly like the book whether it be because of budget or time limit, and sometimes it can change the entire tone of the film.

It is believed, that there are many pieces to the story of To Kill a Mocking Bird left out of the film version of the novel. I agree with this statement, and I am here today to show you four select scenes and/or characters that (in my opinion) were significant to the story. To Kill a Mocking Bird is a coming of age story for two young children, as well as a story that shows that people are not always what they seem to be. The scenes that I have chosen are very important role in supporting to these themes.

Street gangs in the northeast of the United States came about in three phases. The first phase took place after the American Revolution and consisted of youth fighting over turf. The second phase of street gangs started to emerge in 1820, which coincided with a rise of immigration. This is when serious ganging began taking place. In the 1930s and 1940s, the Latino and Black populations grew, and eventually, over two-thirds of the gangs in New York were Puerto Rican or Black. This third phase of gang activity is the subject for Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, which features the Puerto Rican Sharks and the Polish-American Jets and the romantic relationship between two people, one from each gang, which suffers to exist amidst the violence between the two gangs.

There are some similarities between “the Outsiders” movie and novel. For example The greasers winning the rumble. “...but he was grinning happily because the Socs were running,”(Hinton 145). The rules of the rumble were hands only and who ever runs first lost and the Socs ran first. As well as Ponyboy waking up next the fountain with Bob lying in front of him dead and Johnny completely shocked. “I was lying on the pavement beside the fountain, coughing and gasping,” (Hinton 56). This shows the reader Ponyboy waking up after trying to be drowned. “...Bob, the handsome Soc, was lying in the moonlight, doubled up and still. A dark pool was growing from him…”(Hinton 56). After Ponyboy wakes up and catches him breath he looks over to see Bob Sheldon

The “outsiders” movie and novel are very fascinating. Both the movie and the novel have many differences.

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was one brave mongoose who had the courage to go up against the fiercest animals on the planet, Cobras. (Movie)(Kipling 143) The story took place in Segowlee Cantonment, India in a house’s garden where Darzy the bird and his wife, Chucundra the muskrat, and the deadly Cobras live. (Kipling 143) The Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was a mongoose who got washed away from his home and ended up with a new family. He would would end up coming across three snakes in the large garden and killing them. Cobras, are one of the most dangerous snakes in the world. You must be brave to fight a cobra if you are not you could be snatched up any moment. Nevertheless Rikki-Tikki-Tavi the book and the movie are the same story they have differences such as the Plot, characterization, and the conflict.

Books and movies are never exactly the same. Movies tend to leave out events that took place in the novel and may do things not according to the novel. To Kill A Mockingbird has a few difference and similarities between the novel and film. One of the differences, for example, is that in the movie Dill is Miss Stephanie Crawford’s nephew, but in the book Dill is actually Mrs. Rachel’s nephew. A similarity that both share is when Atticus kills the mad dog that is disturbing the neighborhood. These are only two examples of the many similarities and differences among the novel and film.

There are other significant similarities between the movie and the book, so if I overlooked or forgot any extremely crucial points, forgive me.

The outsiders book and movie are both dangerously amazing! They have a few differences but for the most part they're pretty similar.You may not think they're that different but they are in some ways.

This novel was also turned into a movie in 1962. The movie and the book had both similarities and differences. For instance, the relationship between Atticus and the African Americans was a similarity between the book and the movie. On the other hand the absence of Aunt Alexandra in the movie was a prominent difference between the book and the movie. The book and the movie were both good ,but there were similarities and differences in each .
