Learning to get out of your confronts zone and do many things you have never done before can be challenging, fun and learning opportunity like mines was. In my family, we do not really try new things like we should because everyone seems to be busy doing other things. Therefore, visting the museum was a huge eye opener for me and very interesting in many ways. These museums are ones you wouldn’t usually catch me at which is called “The Stockyard Museum” and “Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame”.
I chose these two museums because I wanted to step out my tree and try going out doing some different else were instead of something around my neighborhood. Pulling up to their area at first was very weird because this was not an environment I was used to being
Interestingly, my first visit to the Museum was almost accidental. When I was a freshman, my mother was taking an art class at the College of Staten Island which required a class trip to the Metropolitan Museum, and my brother and I both agreed to accompany her. I will never forget the moment that I first laid eyes on the Metropolitan Museum. Although it was a dark, cold winter night, the shimmering lights made the building most inviting. As we crossed the threshold, I was struck by
The openness causing you to want to explore and discover what this museum has to offer.
Over the weekend, I took the time to explore two museums. The first museum I visited was the D.I.A , also known as the Detroit Institute of Arts. The D.I.A was a very beautiful, multicultural, and unique place. I also took the time to visit and explore the Charles H. Wright Museum of Detroit. Luckily, these museums weren’t too far from each other they were roughly 5-7 minutes apart. The Charles H. Wright Museum was also very beautiful, it was more appealing to me because it is a museum that exhibits and highlights the history of the African American culture. The Charles H. Wright museum also happens to be the largest African American museum in the world.
I learned that it is okay to try new places you’ve never heard of. I learned a lot of information about upcoming art events that will be held at this art gallery. I learned about the white marble that is a natural resource in two places in the world, one being here in Sylacauga, AL. I learned that a very famous French artist has donated some of his white marble sculpture art to this museum and some of his thoughts on the marble that comes from Alabama. I learned that you don’t have to be a well-known artist producing quality art in order to produce an amazing piece of art. I learned that I really enjoy looking at art more than I thought I
The Museum of Tolerance was an awesome experience for me and for all the 8th graders. We learned about the children of the holocaust , the Anne frank exhibit , and about WWll. I really like the part where there were words and it made Anne's face and she was facing the Hollywood hills and I learned that she wanted to be an actor and wanted to go to Hollywood. The most memorable parts was when we went into the gas chamber. It was just an unbelievable sensation it gave me the chills being in there and seeing that dark grey room. One of the less well know children of the holocaust was Monia Levisnski from Lithuania. I got her as I my kid when they gave us little cards. Sadly he died along with 1.5 million other children. So that is just some of the things we saw at the Museum of Tolerance, a very inspirational
Another aspect that I found to be very interesting was the way in which each of the museums offered different multimedia formats to facilitate the visitor’s experience with the artwork in display. I noticed that both museums offered applications for smartphones and tablets, free of charge, to assist the visitors with getting the most possible out of the museum. Visiting a museum can be a very distracting task because there is so much to see and without a plan or a navigating system that helps you make your way towards the museum, it can be hard to gain something from your visit. Both apps are accessible to most people and very easy to navigate through. These apps included audio guides, exhibition information, calendars, events and so on. However, I noticed
Over the spring break, my parents decided to take me to visit colleges. Of the two colleges we visited, one of them is located near Washington D.C. We were supposed to visit Georgetown University, but we had one day to relax, so my family decided to visit the National Gallery of Art. My dad originally suggested the Smithsonian Museum, but my said that on Yelp, the National Gallery of Art was ranked 1st in museums in Washington, which is much better than Smithsonian, which was ranked 12th. So, we left our hotel and arrived at the museum just as soon as it opened.
After arriving and going through the security screenings, I proceeded to go down the stairs, entering the exhibit itself. Before even observing anything specific, it was immediately realized that this was no typical museum. Most people know that upon arrival, but only when you first enter the exhibit do you realize that this museum is not one that inspects the past, but one that reminds us of it.
I spent time at three different museums for my service hours, the Bangor Discovery Museum, the College of the Atlantic Dorr Museum and the Woodlawn Gardens Museum. At each I went to a different event and each had their the similarities and differences to each other. I facilitated an event at both the College of the Atlantic Dorr Museum and the Bangor Discovery Museum, which is why I believe there are the most similarities between these two, they were completely different activities, but with the same goal: kids have fun and learn.
There was also much to learn from the plaques and information in the exhibit. For example, in the special exhibit, “Little Nemo in Slumberland”, you infer from the writings below the paintings that each work had a different creator and artist. This made it easier to see details beyond the
Two out of the four exhibits were very interesting to me. The life science exhibit had
Going to the Riverquarium was exciting and informative. Seeing the various fish and reptiles made me feel like I was in the wild swimming right with them. The trip has made me feel like I could work with animals someday as well. Not only that, but it also gave me the idea that I have to do all I can to protect nature in any way I can.
Before I went to the museum, my prospective about a museum was poor expectations. What can a museum will offer? , this was one of the questions that I always had in mind. For these reasons, I never thought that I could enjoy a museum tour. However, everything change after visited the Phoenix Art Museum. I went to the trip with poor expectations, but since I arrived in the lobby with all of my classmates and the professor. I started feel that this trip will be sash an educational experience.
The Smithsonian is known for its realization and absolute beauty shown in the exhibits. Every exhibit of this museum has great detail and precision. Not only was each exhibit filled with things of its nature, but also had the right colors to make you feel the exhibit. For example, the vibes flowing from the ocean hall were incredible. The way they accomplished the feel of actually being in the ocean was a surreal experience to even see through the screen. I also liked the way that everything was pretty close to life scale, like the huge whale hanging from the
At first, I didn’t want to go to the museum. That day, I was exhausted after finishing school, so going all the way to San Francisco wasn’t exactly my idea of relaxing. Thankfully, my mom insisted we go that day, since it was my dad’s day off. I felt frustrated that we had to go right then, but my mom forced us.
