From Zero to Six Billion in Just 10 Years: The Story of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook Even though most people may not recognize his name, it is likely they have used Mark Zuckerberg's social media service, Facebook, to keep in touch with their friends and family members, and increasingly their workplace as well. Indeed, around the world, people from all walks of life are coming together on Facebook and forming communities of interest that are changing the definition of interpersonal socialization in ways that will inevitably have a profound effect on how people communicate in the future. In the meantime, unlike many of his competitors, Zuckerberg figured out how to actually make money using his social media platform and has been raking in the bucks as a result. Although competitors such as LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter and others are also growing in popularity, the clear gorilla in room today is Facebook which dominates the social media market. To determine how Zuckerberg achieved this impressive level of success before he reached 30, this paper provides a review of the relevant literature and an analysis of a case study of Zuckerberg and his enormous Facebook empire, followed by a summary of the research and important findings in the conclusion.
