3.1 Introduction The aim of this study is to assess the success in attracting FDI of Vietnam by answering two first research questions: (1) What are the factors affecting the FDI inflows to Vietnam? (2) Is there any difference between potential FDI inflows calculated by Gravity model and actual figures? In an attempt to find out the answers for those questions, the methods for data analysis will be clarified in this chapter. 3.2 Sample selection For any research with large size of population, the collection and analysis of entire data is sometimes impossible due to time constraint.
