The sun that sends out light to our world is not considered as sun in the evening; it is called as a star in general because of its structure and history which most of the stars in the universe similarly have. The sun is a naturally giant star that contains many elements, and magnetically sucks everything that is close by into its body. Moreover, this almost-spherical star, along with its strong gravity, consists of the fire and lava that are made from the elements, burns and melts down all of the small meteorites that pass by. The sun is seen to be dangerous as described, but helpful for our planet. It brings the warmness and light to our lives, and which daytime exists, humans and creatures start working and smiling with happiness and …show more content…
I tried look straight to the sun just for a few seconds. The outcome turned out that I was color-blind for a while. If I have starred at the sun for a minute, I would be blind for life. Another bad example, that the atmosphere does not protect us from the sun, is our skins. The sun made every uncovered parts of my body turn darker. When this happened, it took me months to recover my uncovered skin to have the same color with the covered skin. I do not try to be offensive about the protection of the atmosphere from the sun, but this is the true. The sun is dangerous, yet it also can be very helpful and effective to our lives.
The sun allows species, such as human being, on earth to live until they are old enough to leave and say goodbye to the material world. There is nothing that can replace the sun that is always helping our lives and planet out of death and extinction. Other stars, indeed, have the same function as our sun does, but they are too far away from our planet. They are just little dots that appear during night time to make sky look pretty and fancy. Although our sun is better than other stars at bringing light and warmness to us, it does not help us at all in the evening because it is in the opposite side of the earth. What makes the sun disappear at one side of the earth at night and appear at and shines the other side? That is caused by the spinning movement of our earth. Adding to that, our
Many people think that is it possible to achieve a “healthy tan,” but this thought has been proven wrong. Overexpose to UV-A and UV-B rays from the sun lead to premature aging of the skin, as well as the possible formation of skin cancer, know as melanoma. An appearance of a tan is actually a stage of burning and damage to the skin. Although a tan may be desirable to many, the fact remains that more people need to be educated on the dangers of the sun’s harmful rays, and the possible health complications of overexposure.
The Sun is Also A Star tells the story of Natasha and Daniel, two teens in New York City. Natasha is Jamaican and moved to the US illegally when she was eight years old. Daniel is a first generation American citizen but his parents moved to New York from Korea a few years before he was born. They meet in a record store and end up spending the day together wandering the city. They are reserved at first but eventually establish a great connection and learn so much from each other as they discuss their belief (or lack thereof) in god, fate, and destiny. The problem is that Natasha’s family is being deported back to Jamaica that night. Daniel teaches Natasha that sometimes things happen for a reason and Natasha teaches Daniel that sometimes, life is unfair. The book addresses 21st century themes through the characters narratives and issues, including immigration, the American Dream, and modern views on God and fate.
The sun is a star that is made up of hydrogen gas. The sun is unlike other stars that we see in the sky because the sun delivers energy and radiation that allows to living things to exist. Also, the sun is much closer than the other stars in the sky.
1. The earth’s sun is a star, it generates heat and light through nuclear fusion.
Prolonged exposure to the sun has many different effects on one’s health. Overexposure to the sun affects people’s health in positive and negative ways. It causes basal cell carcinoma, a skin cancer caused by overexposure to the sun. Prolonged exposure to the sun can also lead to squamous cell carcinoma,
There are billions upon billions of stars in our galaxy but only about 2000 of those are visible to us at night. Although there is one star that we are able to see during the day, but only because it is the closest one to earth, this star is the sun. Because the brightness of the sun is so vast we cannot see other stars, but when the sun sets we can see an abundance of celestial objects. The sun appears to be what some would call “the largest star” but it is only an average sized star, there are a countless more that are hundreds times the size of our sun. When we look up into the night sky and focus our eyes on what appears to be a star we often notice it twinkling, this is caused by turbulence in earth’s atmosphere. The atmosphere is like a lens and makes a boiling effect causing stars to look like they’re twinkling. Astronomers have discovered clusters of stars forming patterns, we call them constellations and there are roughly eighty-eight in our night sky. Stars can come in all kinds of different shapes sizes and distances, which causes some stars to appear closer than others. Bigger stars tend to shine more brightly than smaller stars. Even though a star seems bigger and brighter than the others doesn’t actually mean it is, it could just be a star closer to earth than most. The closest star to us is Alpha Centauri and is approximately four light years from earth meaning it takes four years for the light from Alpha Centauri to reach
The light that the Sun provides, also helps to light up different objects in the night sky, even if their billions of miles away.
13) When we say a star “moves” on a H-R diagram we are not saying that it is physically moving from one place to another, we are saying that it is transitioning from one stage of its evolutionary life to another. For example we might say it is moving from pre-main sequence to main sequence. This means that the star has moves from an early stage in its life to the middle stage of its life. It has physically stayed in the same place in space.
Everyone in this universe had probably heard and read this book, though that wouldn’t stop me from recommending it. The Sun Is Also a Star has a realistic heroine Natasha, she loves science and doesn’t believe in fate or whatsoever while we have a poet hero Daniel who is hopeless romantic. Isn’t that an intriguing dynamic? You will root for them. I also love that the story is threaded with important topic that is relevant more than ever, immigration.
It is no secret that the earth’s sun is “special” to say the least. Some would say it was designed to be unique to help sustain life on planet earth. However, other nearby stars were not designed to sustain life. One example would be the star Proxima Centauri. This star recently had a short increase in radiation, known as a flare. This flare caused the star to become a thousand times brighter for ten seconds. Earth’s sun also has flares, but they are much smaller. When Proxima Centauri is at its brightest point it is still ten times brighter than our suns largest flare. This is just one example of how special our sun really is.
Individuals who get a considerable measure of presentation to bright (UV) beams are at more serious hazard for skin cancer. Sunlight is the fundamental wellspring of UV beams, yet you don't need to keep away from the sun totally. What's more, it is hasty to remain inside if it would shield you from being dynamic, in light of the fact that physical action is imperative for good wellbeing. Yet, getting excessively sun can be unsafe. There are a few stages you can take to confine your presentation to UV
The short story “All The Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury uses the sun to symbolize hope that the children have in the story. In the story the children don’t actually know that the sun will come out they have hope that it will and continue to have hope throughout the story. As proof of this it says in the story it says “It’s stopping, it’s stopping” the children are excited and hopeful that the rain will stop. Although the author could be using the sun as selfishness is something not to cross. In the story the children want the sun to come out so bad and don’t want anyone to ruin it so they through their fellow classmate into a closet. As the story carries on the children become more and wishful that the sun will come out in time. The students
To begin with, the moon is Earth’s main source of light at night. The moon itself is not actually a light source; it is a reflective surface like a mirror (Cain, website). Mitton said in his book Eyewitness Moon that the sun’s beams illuminate the moon, thus giving it the appearance of having light (Mitton, 10). Even though the moon reflects only seven to
Every hour at least one American will die of skin cancer caused by exposure to the sun. These statistics are alarming and most people are unaware that the sunshine that we all love so much is in fact a threat to our health and good looks. It is up to us to educate ourselves and our children on the harmful effects of sun exposure on the human body like premature aging, physical damage to the body, and cancerous diseases.
It has been proven that the Earth’s atmosphere blocks 98.7 percent of the sun’s UV rays. The other 2.3 percent that we are exposed to, have both beneficial and harmful effects. We do need to focus on the benefits, because we have way more of them. The only harm it does to our body is skin cancer, which by being more careful we can protect from. The
