All of our lives are like stories that eventually end, some just end more abruptly than others. Certain stories are more impactful to some people more than others. A few that you might wish would end sooner, while other stories you wish would go on and on. Some stories leave deep footprints in our souls. The tale of "Uncle" Stan "the man" Morton was one of epic proportion. A story so profound that anyone who encountered it, was unable to resist the sentiment that unselfishly exuded from every moment in Stan's story. One of the few stories in my life that has enabled me to enhance the depth of my own story. A story which continually inspired others to re-look at their own thinking and to push themselves to expand their potential to its fullest.
While explaining emotional topics, he would use dramatic emotion. One way he did this was by sharing personal stories that connected with the audience on an emotional level. By tapping into their emotions, he could inspire empathy, compassion, and a sense of unity for the audience. Another way he did this was by stating, “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.” This quote helps show us compassion and empathy and reminds us that it is important to help those in need.
Storytelling is a strong trait that is used in every conversation today. In the film, a quote says "A man tells stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him and he becomes immortal." essentially this quote is saying that
This quote really explains the topic in this story because as you read, you notice his entire life situation and how he came about of his careers and his life after. Everything that motivated him and pushed him, the people who believed in him all had part of the topic.
His first life was basically nothing, he had nothing, he was living on the streets, he didn't even know how old he was when he got asked the question. His second life was living with the Milgoms when they adopted him. He never had a family or a story to tell about his life. A quote that really stuck out to me was, “When you own nothing, it's easy to let things go”. This means a lot to me because he is right, if you don't have anything to love then it can't hurt to let it go.
Mr. Tim Hernandez tells us the story of the importance of these men and women in these informative stories and is effective in doing so. He is effective because of his excellent use of pathos. He uses pathos throughout the entire novel. An example of his use of pathos comes from Tim Z Hernandez himself in the novel “It was clear she’d been waiting her whole life to speak of him, though at times it must have seemed easier to live out her days without ever thinking back at all.”(28). When Hernandez used this quote he really tugged at the reader's emotions.
He had helped to establish a local junior college aimed at providing vocational education for at-risk minorities, and as a hands-on administrator he found himself on some occasions in a physical altercation with a disaffected student. In middle age, he and my mother once were parking their car on a visit to San Francisco when they were suddenly surrounded by several African-American teens. When confronted with their demands, he offered to give the thieves all his cash if they would leave him and my mother alone. Thankfully they took his cash and left.
This idea of living a story that Peterson writes about within his story is one that I view is very important in regards
Elie Wiesel experienced an unfortunate experience that changed his life, and he used it to change the lives of others. He brutally went through the holocaust, and his life was never the same. He went through so much at a young age, and lived to tell the tale.
Wiesel tells his testimony of survival to show living proof of what happened. He goes from not thinking the world would care about his story into writing his story down and seeing a massive loving response to his book. Wiesel going through his trauma and tragedy has made him an important figure in society to recognize and
I think “A Good Man Is Hard to Find” and stories with a similar motif are relevant to our lives because we all have a certain level of arrogance. Perhaps we think we already know everything we need to be successful in life. Perhaps we think we don’t need to practice empathy because it doesn’t result in monetary value. Perhaps we think that since something is accessible on the internet, then we already know it and, therefore, do not need to learn it. But I think everyone should practice an attitude of not knowing. The grandmother always had some kind of answer to a situation or rule to spout to those around her, but in the end she really knew nothing, at least concerning things that really matter. Those who embrace confusion and struggle are
“Let us not forget, after all, that there is always a moment when the moral choice is made. Often because of one story or one book or one person, we are able to make a different choice, a choice for humanity, for life,” This is a quote said by Elie Wiesel and everytime I hear it I think about my grandfather. My grandfather was Ciro Castaldi, a holocaust survivor. His story has always reminded me to never give up and keep trying even when something so horrible seems to be never ending.
II. Another story that touched me was a girl name Lindsey, who wrote a poem to Danny which was “a man had a dream, Danny Thomas was his name, he touched people’s lives and they’ll never be the same, he built a hospital with the help of gods will, to save the lives of children who are deadly ill.”
the characters. The story reminds his audience that a man is more than a father. He is
Despite all the obstacles he was forced to overcome in his life, P.K. was a very strong character. He continued to move forward and grew into a more motivated, caring person with each loved one he lost. Everyone who
The book tells the story of the death of much of the author's family. It shows how he overcame much adversity and survived his training.
