Topic: 4. The Territory-wide System Assessment (TSA) and its implementation in HK classroom

Introduction

Territory-wide System Assessment (TSA) has implemented by Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) in 2004, for respectively primary and secondary students. It was designed to assist to test for the learning and understanding of students, in the level of the three subjects --- Chinese language, English language and Mathematics. By the collected academic results of students, the curriculum planning with the education policies can be improved for better development of learning and teaching. Also, the general strengths and limitation of students can be observed so that teachers can set strategies for holistic development. Inter-school difference can be reviewed for the competence of suitable level.

In this paper, the TSA implementation of the subject of English Language will be discussed mainly with the case studies of Tsang Pik Shan Secondary School and CCC Kei To Secondary School (assisting with cases of schools). Prior to the discussion, a module of implementation of TSA is suggested below:
