Bravery is the capacity to perform properly even when scared to death- Omar Bradley. As portrayed in the novel The Hunger Games, written by the outstanding Suzanne Collins published in 2008, a perfect life, world, or person doesn’t exist. Throughout this novel bravery is definitely the main concept portrayed. Don’t you believe some people lack bravery these days? I believe that The Hunger Games, is a novel that should be continued to be read and studied. The reasoning behind my opinion is because it teaches you about the bravery within one, and sacrifices you have to make for the ones you love. Did you know what a dystopian world meant before you read this novel? This novel gives a better understanding on the difference of a utopian and dystopian world, and the obstacles and challenges that people would face living in that world. Do you think bravery is the main concept in this novel? The Hunger Games is based on a dystopian world and the challenges that come with it. During Chapter 1, Prim gets chosen as the female tribute during the reaping. That was when Katniss’ emotions came in play, “With one sweep of my arm, I push her behind me . “I volunteer!” I gasp. I volunteer as tribute!” Would you ever risk your life for your twelve year old sister? Well the bravery of Katniss made her volunteer because Prim had no skill and had no Idea of how to survive alone. The technique Collins uses in this text is repetition of ‘I volunteer’. The repetition of this phrase emphasis that Katniss will volunteer and take Prim’s place to fight in the Hunger Games. This portrays the bravery and, kindness, love and desperation Katniss has. It plays a role in why I believe that this novel should be continued to be studied as it teaches the audience about
