All the songs we hear, whether it is on the radio, or on YouTube, all have a meaning and a particular feeling they help express. Music is a huge part of our entertainment, the songs we listen to and the sounds we hear all contribute to our personality, feelings and emotions. Some songs bring the happiness out of us and some songs make us sad. Humans have a very broad range of emotions; therefore songs need to be made to fit all of those feelings. Death is a subject common amongst most singers. We all experience death somehow, whether it is a death of a friend or family member. Music can certainly shape our attitudes and personalities. She sings about death in a very content way. She is appreciative of the life she has lived and she speaks with no regret through her lyrics. Perry communicates that we as humans tend to pay more attention to life after someone close to us dies. Kimberley tells her listeners that death is not a scary thing and that her time was well spent on Earth. The Band Perry is a country group made up of 1 woman and 2 men who are siblings; all three began singing at a very young age. “If I Die Young” became the band’s second studio single to be released in the United States in June 2012.
Moving away from country, introduces “Keep Me in Your Heart” by Warren Zevon. Zevon was a Chicago born and became a highly known American rock singer-songwriter. Zevon was diagnosed with mesothelioma and became very ill, writing “Keep me in Your Heart” as a tribute to himself for his fans. The song is about remembering and keeping loved ones in your heart all the time. His song won five Grammy nominations at the end of his death in 2003. This last recorded song was written at a time where he knew his time on Earth was about to end shortly. Zevon wanted to leave a legacy of love behind and never be forgotten by his fans.
