This essay is about all the things we covered about careers in class. It is also going to be abe about how i see my future and what career i want. A resume is something you make in order to get a job. You write your experiences and skills. It helps by showing the boss of the job you're applying at the skills you have. I think job resumes are a good thing and a bad thing. I think it's a good thing because you can show all your past accomplishments and your experiences. I also think it's a bad thing because people can lie about so many things just to get a job. A cover letter is a letter that you send with your resume to wherever you are applying a job for. A cover letter just explaining why you would be the right person for the job and just introducing yourself. It's helpful by telling your (maybe) future boss a little about yourself, your background and why you …show more content…
I used want to be a professional dancer or a dance teacher. Then it would be like hair stylist, a doctor, lawyer, house designer, or fashion designer. I would personally love to be a fashion designer but it's a very difficult career to get somewhere. You have to be very god and get noticed by someone famous, if you get noticed by someone famous then you most likely made it but it's very difficult to get there. Another career i am interested in is a lawyer. But in order to be a lawyer you have to be ready to speak in front of a lot of people and be comfortable and confident with it. I get stage fright so i'm not sure being a lawyer is right for me. But on the other hand i argue very well. I believe you should do a career that you love and enjoy because if you don't and you don't enjoy your career your just gonna be miserable. It is important to have a job the pays well but it is just as important to have a job you
The career portfolio should include a resume and cover letter, and may include examples of work, awards and certificates, news articles, and letters of recommendation. Copies of the portfolio can be left with potential employers or posted on-line for them to access. There are many resources for finding job openings to include networking through business or trade organizations, social networking, online job boards, classified ads, employment agencies, and clearing houses. Cover letters should be written for each specific job of interest. Resumes should be neat, well organized, and error free.
Take a look at all of the links on this site: Which ones interest you? List the links that you were interested in and tell me why. If none of the sources listed interest you, write a 400-word essay about the type of career(s) you are interested in and why.
A career is something everyone should want. With a career you are able to pay things and take care of your family. In my career I plan to be a hairstylist and make-up artist. I’ve want to be a hairstylist/makeup artist since I was ten years old. I love doing hair and makeup to show my different skills. I want to have a good job to be able to support my family and get nice things.
I chose to research a career in Health Psychology, focusing somewhat on clinical work. I chose this career path in particular because of my major and emphasis in Health Psychology; I wanted to know what the opportunities, benefits, and requirements were for pursuing this specific field within psychology. I was made aware of this option as a major emphasis during my first semester at BYU-Idaho, and I knew at that point that I wanted to go on to doctoral studies and possibly medical school, so I switched from a General Psychology emphasis to Health Psychology. I also wanted to know if there were specializations under Health Psychology that would fit with my personal interest in addiction recovery.
A college resume takes place during the years of school when a college student looks for a job or internship outside of class. The subject of the resume is the college student, and what he or she has to offer to the business or company proposing the job. The college student will write the resume to describe all of his or her experiences that pertain to the job, and what separates them from the other applicants. The reader of the college resume, a college professor or business or company manager, will look for applicants that have all the right qualities to contribute to a mutually beneficial relationship between the applicant and company. The purpose of a college resume is to show all the qualities of a college student that make them a perfect fit for an internship; this will allow the student to gain real world experience using what they have been taught in
This autobiography will present events, people, and experiences that have been integral to my career development. My life will be outlined starting from early childhood and leading up to present day. Each stage of my life will discuss examples that explain how I got to where I am today. Career development theories will then be related to my life experiences.
So now that you know what your resume is and what you need to put into it you need to know how to set it up. In setting up a resume there is no proper way of doing it. Just make sure that it is simple, to the point, and clear for the employer to understand. You cannot do your resume in one hour, so give yourself some time to review it and also have a rough copy to have other people review it. You can look at samples online as there are numerous templates available. I have printed you off a template to take home so that you may create your own resume. In the article by Erin Binns, Uncovering Resume and Skill Building Opportunities in Today’s Market, she says that you should only have a one page resume, two at the most. Never ramble in your resume, get right to the point. You need to make

Realizing the career that would be right for me. Would likely be a private/criminal investigator. Seeing that I am motivated and committed for a job like this it can become a widely problem-solving, communicational career for me. I’m willing to use my skills to help others in need in the criminal field. Pursuing this career it would allow me to always have something exciting happen daily and always be on my toes. Therefore, this is something that interests me a lot and I know it would be fun for me. As a private investigator, it requires much of schooling, ways to make sure you are a problem solver, and helping people with their cases of criminals and more that can get away from the trouble they had caused.
Typically, when someone hears ‘medical field’, automatically you think of people with white lab coats and a stethoscope around their neck ready to take your vitals. Obviously this comes to mind because these doctors and surgeons are the face of the medical field, but in reality there is so much more. There are actually about 300 different occupations one can have in the health care field. A large part of that is nurses. Nurses are the basis of the medical field; they are almost as important as the patients themselves. They have always been a major part of our lives. Nurses have been with us since we first opened our eyes, from birth to broken bones, nurses were there. They have very difficult and extensive careers, they dedicate their lives to their work and to their patients. Some nurses spend long nights away from their family and friends to help others, at times their shifts can last as long as 24 hours. In my opinion nurses are the real super heroes, for this reason I have decided to pursue a major in nursing. I still have a lot to learn and many years of schooling to go, but personally its worth the wait.
I want to be a psychologist. I would love to learn all about the way people act, think and feel and at the same time try to help them. I have a very easygoing personality and I love to have fun and laugh. I ask a lot of questions, and I think I am very easy to get along with. Some career goals I have is to finish college, I would like to find a job I want to keep that I could make a career out of, and just take it one day at a time because I have desire to make the right decisions and live a pleasant life.
The career I have chosen is to become a lawyer, in either a private practice or firm, or for the government. The definition of a lawyer is an advocate or advisor in society, that is as an advocate, to represent one of the opposing parties in a criminal or civil trial, and as an advisor to counsel clients as to their legal rights and suggest courses of action. But that is not all a lawyer is about. Being a lawyer takes hard work, dedication, and many years in school.
Everyone must make a choice, once they reach a certain age, that will determine everything in their life. My dream job is to become an electrical engineer one day because I find interest in circuits and building electronic devices. When I was a young boy my dream not to be an electric engineer but something more along the lines of being a cook; however, that dream was short lived because my interest of being able to cook changed over as I got older and became interested in electronics. The way electronics work is simply amusing to me because I could not understand how the devices were operating, and honestly I still may not understand how these devices actually work. My backup plan for my future career would have to be becoming a
In this course, I’ve learned the appropriate audience, purpose, structure, and voice for a cover letter. A cover letter accompanies a resume and is written formally. It is used to convince the company that you are fit to be hired, and to introduce yourself to them. The audience of a cover letter is the manager of a business or company. The purpose is to introduce yourself to a potential employer and to highlight any relevant skills you possess. The structure of a cover letter includes your address, the date, the recipient’s address, and a salutation. The opening paragraph states why you’re writing, establishes a point of contact, and gives a brief introduction of yourself. The body paragraphs highlight some of the more important points from your resume. The closing paragraph should politely request an interview at the employer’s convenience. Identify what supplementary material’s being sent, such as a writing sample or a portfolio. The reader should be thanked for their consideration and you should indicate that you’re looking forward to hearing from them. There should be a complimentary closing followed by your name and signature. The voice of a cover letter should be polite, formal, and concise.
A resume a short, simple document that highlights an individual's experience, qualifications, skills education and certifications in hopes of finding a job and is usually limited to one, maybe two pages. (WiseGEEK, n.d.) Some employers ask for a resume, other employers ask for what is called a Curriculum Vitae, often shorted to CV. Some employers use the term interchangeably. The CV includes all life accomplishments, in chronological order regardless of the relevance to the job duties. In the academic community, a CVs is the most common and can ran several pages long and is often requested for graduate and professional schools like PHD programs. (Simpson, n.d.)
