Malcolm Galdwell wrote this article using Cesar Millan's experiences to show how nonverbal communication can take place and it's importance. His article is well written out, it uses many situations between a woman and a child, but also many situations between a man and dogs, whom can't communicate verbally. The article does not discriminate nor appear to be bias, but rather just informs the reader of nonverbal communication that can take place in our daily lives without us thinking about it.
After it was finished being built we moved in. And there we stayed.Me since I was 5 I had to attend school So at the end of the summer I applied to North Springs Elementary school. Well my parents did. But I attended North Springs Elementary till I was in 3rd grade. While I was at North Springs a lot of stuff happened. My hamster Dude after about 2 years he died. Of old age. I came home from school and my parents sitting on the stairs to the second floor holding each others hands. They said they had something to tell me, Then they told me my hamster died. They had a burial for him, put him in a computer mouse box. And I decided to put a fake flower on top of his so called grave. Then ended up taking the flower in fear of my 6 year old self would dig it up and I don’t know perform some Frankenstein experiments on the dead hamster. Then after dude died about a year later when I was seven on valentine's day my parents took me to North Carolina. When we got to wherever we was going. We met a nice lady and a dog that she so happened to be giving away because she could no longer take care of it as she was going into the military. So the lady just gave us a dog. She was about 1 year and a half when we got her. She was a
I go a hedgehog named Pepper and I found out that I was going to Las Vegas, I was super excited. Before we left, we had to take my dog Sophie to the babysitters. I hugged her and told her goodbye, but I didn’t realize it would be a really, really long goodbye. She ended up getting put down before we left for Vegas. I didn’t know until we got back from Vegas because my mom hadn’t told me.
She was a lot of fun to play with and she was very energetic. We did not get her that day, but the employees told us that the dog we were interested in was going to be at Petsmart the next day. We went to Petsmart and we were going to make the final decision if we were going to get her. My sister and I really wanted her but my dad was hesitant about the idea of getting her. He did not know if we were ready for another dog. My sister and I really wanted her so we exclaimed “ we will do everything to take care of the dog!”
“The Last Dog,” by Katherine Patterson showed that it’s okay to be different. You don’t have to follow the crowd. I understood Brock, the main character. I follow the group much like he did at the beginning of the story. I hope to be more like the Brock at the end of the story and do as I wish opposed to what other people are doing. I don’t want those people to influence what I do. I want to break away from that hive mentality.
I once had a puppy named Licorice, and she was about 4-5 months old. My uncle's dogs had puppies and he gave one to my sister for christmas. My sister was so glad to have a puppy because she had been asking for one all year. My sister named her Licorice because that was her favorite candy at the time. After a month of having Licorice we had all the chores in line who walks the dog, who washes the dog and all that stuff. My sister and i liked to mess with the dog because the dog would react funny. After two months i started to have this weird feeling that made me worry about Licorice every time i heard a song in the car. Listening to that song reminds me of licorice today. Two months later the most tragic night of my life was about to happen.
She would watch and whine as the other dogs would play but would not participate at first. After an hour or so of watching she finally jumped down and the other dogs quickly came up to sniff her which made her bolt for the sofa and my lap as they wagged their tails and followed suit trying to smell her as she tucked her hind end with her tail nub tucked tight. She promptly barked and growled again. They would put their ears back and heads down and look away like they had been scolded, after all they had been in a way, and then they would go off to play again.
I met my best friend ten years ago. He has thick, brown, black, and white hair, brown eyes, and white feet. He loves stuffed animals that squeak, riding on the golf cart, hunting for lizards and squirrels, and eating any time of day. His name is Sam and he’s ten years old. Oh, did I mention that he’s a dog? He does not know it though. When I was seven years old, my mom, brother, and I went to the local animal shelter to look at the animals. We found two adorable puppies -- one was solid white and the other was brown, black, and white -- and my brother and I begged to have the white one. But, a couple days later, we came home from school and saw that sweet brown, black, and white puppy lying on our dad’s chest taking a nap. The white one had
It was a scorching hot day in July, my friend and I were cruising on the country out near her house, when we spotted an extra-large box near the side of the road. We pulled over to investigate and we were shocked to find four small puppies in the box. There were two tan colored females, one black male, and one brindle male. The puppies were filthy and whining. It was no question that we would not leave the precious puppies there. We decided quickly to load the box in the back of her car and head to town. We managed to find homes for three of the puppies. The last puppy went home with me. He was the cutest and the smallest of the liter. He was dirty and smelled bad but I was determined to find him a home.
The day started out like any other Saturday. I got up, immediately went into the game room, and started playing games on my Xbox. I had completely forgotten we were getting our puppy that day. Which seems crazy, because I was so excited about it. We had done a ton of research on line. Looked at so many pictures of Pomeranian puppies, I could hardly remember which one was which. We finally settled on a super fluffy one. My mom called the breeder to schedule a showing and then we found out that the puppy didn’t live here. He was actually from a breeder in Louisiana, which seemed like a super long trip to me. We found out, we would have to purchase him and have him flown here before we could see him face to face. That made us really nervous. I wasn’t sure we should trust these people. The breeder had a lot of referrals and recommendations, so we asked for a video at least. When my mom showed my brother and I the video, we decided he was a keeper.
So we ate our breakfast quickly but my mom was not done she wanted us to get a box to put our stuff in and a trash bag. After we did everything we finally go to open our stockings. We tried to do it as fast as possible so we could see if we got a dog. When my mom finally said that we could open our gifts one at a time we were so excited we could not stand it. But after we opened everything no dog was found. So we asked my mom for if you got us a dog she said no then we asked our dad and he said no. We were heart broken at this point but then are parents said go outside. We walked outside and went to the right of my front door are parents said “We might not have gotten you a dog but Santa did”. And we looked at the crate and in front of it was two small bowls they had little puppy paws on them. And as we ran towards it we heard barking as we unlocked the crate a little puppy ran out and instantly loved us. We said thank you so much for giving us the one thing we wanted the most a dog. We soon realized that we would have to give him a name we said some names but one name That my brother graham said was sparky we really liked the name even my parents and from then on he was known as our dog Sparky Wesel
Our trailer house was gray with chocolate colored stairs. We also had a grey Pontiac car. We had a neighbor that always gave us hot wheels his name was Bob. That night we went in our new apartment it smelled brand new and it smelled like paint and dry wall. We had lots of help moving stuff into it then we returned back to our house. That next day we went to our new apartment ever since we lived in the apartment for a very long time since I was 5. My cat Tippy stayed with my aunt, which moved into our old house eventually. But when I was at my apartment for about 10 to 6 months when we talking about bringing Tippy
It all started one Saturday afternoon sitting in a swing with my dog, Roxi. I was doing some thinking about how my dog could do whatever it wanted whenever it wanted to. I told my dog that if I had a choice, I would be a dog for just one day. I could just sit in the shade and sleep all day long. As the sunset I began to doze off into a light sleep. When I woke up later that night I tried to stand up, but I kept falling each time. When I looked at my legs to see what was wrong, I noticed that they were ferry. I had become a dog! I ran up to my house and started scratching the door like crazy. When my mom came to see whom it was she noticed it was just a dog. I told her it was I, but all that came out was a bunch of barking. When she turned around I had to slip in right after her. All I could think was great, now I’m a dog and I have to convince my family it’s me.
We were so excited because we’ve been asking for a dog for a while. We then asked what was the dog’s name, and she said that his name was Gates. At first I didn’t like that name and wanted us to change it, but then by the next 5 minutes, I really loved that name. We got him in the trunk of our van with big smiles on our faces, and we thanked the lady and our parents over and over again. I then asked the lady "How old is he?" and she responded "14 months," which made me even happier, for he was still a puppy! We then thanked the lady again, and we got into the van. As we were leaving back home I asked my parents "Where are we exactly?" and they said "We are on the outside of Benton." My sisters and I then asked a lot of questions about Gates and how he was going to live with us, the whole way back home. They told us that he was going to be an outside dog, but that since he was kind of an inside and outside dog at his previous owners house, that he could come inside to eat, and that he can sleep inside on the really special holidays like Christmas. When we returned to Conway, we went straight to Wal-Mart, where my parents went inside to shop for a water bowl and toy for Gates to have for the night, until we went shopping for the next day. We stayed inside of the van with Gates, while they went inside. When my parents were on there way back out to the car, I called my dad and told him how Gates, chewed up his leash like it was the best thing that he had ever tasted in the world; this leash was a brand new leash that his previous owner got for us to use with him, so my parents came out to the van and gave us his toy so that he could play with, and they went right back into the store. After, waiting a little while, they finally came back out again with a chained leash, so he couldn’t chew up this
Chad my Mom and I walk into are house and it was destroyed. Even my mickey mouse was chewed to bits, and in the middle of it all was our gold lab Krammer. Krammer was left outside during hurricane katrina, he was found wandering the streets. My Dad thought it would be a great idea to find a friend for our other dog summer, and he came home with the craziest dog ever. Krammer had extreme separation anxiety after being left during Katrina, so whenever we would leave he would chew out of his metal cage and chew stuff up and use the bathroom everywhere. But one day my dad decided to tie up his cage so he couldn't come out. He started freaking out after we left and he pooped and peed blood. When we got home they took him to the vet and they found out he had some illness and had to be put down that dreaded day.
