The top opportunity I identified at the end of the Unit 5 complete section was communication. The communication efforts I would like to focus my attention on are communication between those actively trying to get in our program and those currently in our program. These efforts will need to be supported by an informed staff, so there will also need to be internal communication efforts to ensure all parties are speaking the same language. My hypothetical solution is: If we improve the communication efforts between potential students and our enrollment staff, enrollment numbers will improve. Similarly, if we improve our communication efforts between our current students and their advisors, retention numbers will improve.

To get a full picture of the status of our communication efforts at Bethel, I would collect data to see the demographics of who our current students are, and how they came to Bethel. In addition, I would like enrollment and retention numbers from this year and the past several years. Not only would I like data on our current students, but on our potential students, as well. This would include data, like how much traffic we get on our website and where they are coming from.

At Bethel, we have several ways of collecting data on our students and potential students. In the past, to collect data on our current students we have used a Customer Relationship Management system called Hobsons. We are currently working on our organizational productivity with a new CRM…
