“Beginnings are usually scary and endings are usually sad, but it’s everything in between that makes it all worth living.”
To me, one of the toughest questions in life is, how can you possibly make everything in between worth living with such limited given time?
When I was young my parents used to tell me:
“Time is free
But it’s priceless
You can’t own it
But you can use it
You can’t keep it
But you can spend it
Once you’ve lost it
You can never get it back”
The final two lines of this quote have stuck with me and often play over and over in my head.
Time. It is arguably our most valuable commodity, yet some people are given so little to spend. Unlike treasured gems, precious metals, and any other prized possessions, time can’t be hoarded, collected, earned, or bought with hard work, money, dignity, or our soul. It slips away whether or not we choose to pack meaning into it. Use it or lose it, so goes the saying.
Though we all know how limited our lives are, we sometimes act like we don’t know the value of time. We use words like spend, kill, or waste when we speak of using the finite number of hours in

He lived 95 full years and although he lived a long life, his death left me heartbroken and in deep sorrow. Despite me feeling so empty when he passed, I felt as though all the pain and suffering was worthwhile because looking back he made the world a better place for everyone around him. After he passed away, I decided to start living my life with more meaning and purpose and I then came to the realization that when I pass away I too and going to leave behind family and loved ones and I hope that my legacy left behind will prove that my ‘dash’ and my ‘everything in between’ will be worthwhile. As the saying goes, “It’s not about the name your parents give you, it’s about the name you leave
Humans have been using the measurement of time to dictate their day since the early eras of ancient civilizations with sundial then evolving into the mechanical clocks we use today. For thousands of years with time measurement tools, humans have depended on a strict schedule to determine what to do to use up the time they have. In today’s modern world, adult humans use their time to contribute to society by working nine to five jobs and young adults spending their childhood in a classroom. In Henry David Thoreau’s book, Walden; Life in the Woods, Thoreau discusses the concept of time. In Thoreau’s excerpt “Economy,” he offers the paradox whether humans live off borrowed time or stolen time from their employers. He explains in a rhetorical statement that by reading his own book would be “robbing your creditors of an hour,” implying that the human civilization has been putting their work in front of their own self-interests in hope of success and money. Although Thoreau wrote the paradox as a brief commentary for the money driven human civilization, this paradox acts as a metaphor towards Thoreau’s view on the use of time for humanity.
Time is money, Time is A resource, and Time is A valuable commodity (Save time, spend time) are grounded in our experience of a wage- based economy.
Time is a valuable resource, and in fact, some people get more out of their time than others. Time is a scarce resource meaning that there is not enough of the resource available to satisfy all of the ways I want to use it. Due to the fact that it is scarce, this means that my time must be allocated in such a way that I can get the most out of it. Being a full time student, working part-time, and playing college athletics is a tough feat. In fact, most of the time I struggle in deciding what to do and when. What I choose to do is a demonstration of my value system and some things are valued more than others.
This quote demonstrates the book’s theme of perseverance because of its powerful motivation to overcome the pain and give it your all.
As we go through periods of stability that are life chapters, and periods of instability that bring about the transitions, we must recognize where we are in the Life Launch. The continuous flow of the four phases is how we grow and develop through our adult years. It is very important to know how to engage and move through the Renewal Cycle of Change. The magic formula that I have begun applying is, Hold On to everything that is important, valuable, and beneficial in my life. The things I like about myself are my spirituality, my family, and my friends. Let go of what’s not working, get rid of dysfunctions, leave bad attitudes behind, and unlearn bad behaviors. Move on is the action I’m taking and will make happen over the next chapter of my life, while I hold on, let go and take on. These actions are making me set precedence in my life and take the necessary steps to start a change for my future. For success to happen in the new chapter of my life, I must learn how to go with the flow of change and embrace the change. By not allowing myself to remain stuck during a transitional period, I take notice and move forward during the challenge. It’s perfectly okay to go through the Renewal Cycle because it goes on and on. It’s life if you allow changes to help you to continue to grow, as you evaluate where you are on your travels through your Life

"I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will " (ch. 23 pg. 280) This quote intensifies Jane’s transitional character from her former ruled life to her now independent life. The metaphor of the bird tells an allusion as unlike a bird she has no entrapment and she can move around whereas as a bird has a cage trapping its freedom.
From family commitments to pressing work deadlines. From social engagements to paying bills. For many of us, free time is one of our most prized possessions, and we value all our time highly.
“The only way we can live is if we grow. The only way we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves into the open.”
Thomas Jefferson said, “Time is really the only capital that any human being has and the only thing he can’t afford to lose.”
Time is a limited resource. If you pour your time and energy into something you think the world needs, but you really don’t care about, you are wasting your time. And time is your most limited resource.
“The different accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature. I had worked hard for
The human condition places an exceptionally high value on time much like other desired resources. And if one examines closely they will likely observe several notable characteristics typically associated with commodities. Similar to commodities, the supply given to the recipient will eventually exhaust at some point. Although where it takes on an undeniable uniqueness is the human condition’s relation and fragile dependency; replenishment, like that of other commodities, is not an option under any circumstances. That would indicate the supply of time as the ultimate limited resource and therefore, very valuable to their person. Short of empathy, no one else has the same appreciation for the value of another individual’s time. An excellent
Before we can manage our time we must know exactly what time is. The dictionary describes it as, the duration of one's life; the hours and days which a person has at his disposal. How we dispose of that time is time management. It's the way we spend our time to organize and execute around our priorities. Remember just because time is intangible doesn't mean that it is not valuable. I want to teach you about the background of time management, the different styles and how to use them, and how it will change your life.
