The company that Hunter observed was Franklin Corporation, a furniture manufacturer. This company has been building recliner chairs and other upholstered furniture since 1970 (Hunter, 2008, p.631). The main manufacturing facilities are located in central Mississippi, USA. The article stated that Franklin Corporation manufactures a large variety of upholstered furniture while employing about 1100 people. Its factory processes all the company’s frame components through a dimension mill, while utilizing computer numerical controlled (CNC) cutting of foam, plywood components, fabric, and leather (Hunter, 2008, p.631).
